Delta bonus MQMs - where are they coming from?
Just noticed this recently while looking at my recent SkyMiles account activity. Under some of the trips I am seeing where I am awarded extra MQMs. It is listed on the same line as the bonus for regular SkyMiles. But it appears on some flights and not others. Is it dependent on the fare type? I could find not mention of this on the Delta web site.
For reference I am currently platinum. I always take two hops everywhere (small regional airport to hub) and on many of the first hops (98 actual miles) I get 500 MQMs. On others I get 500 MQMs + 250 "bonus" MQMs. Of course I also get the standard plat bonus for regular miles on every flight.
What is going on here? If I understood the process I could try and book flights to give me this bonus more often. :-)
Thanks!
Bill
