Yet I waitlisted y'day and cleared overnight. Of course, half of the C+ seats are still open and they didn't clear anyone into those.

I think it's just a sign of what's to come: our GUCs will get us into C+ in the future, and in order to get to delta one, we'll have to use 2 GUCs. Even if the verbage says differently.

Enjoy SYD.
This sounds like a return to the era of needing to purchase M+ fares to get onto the SWU waitlist lottery, although now one gets a couple inches of legroom, hopefully not in a middle seat, for the extra money.

Fun data points around my experience with this route:
1. ATL-LAX-SYD on a Saturday. Cleared ATL-LAX a few days out, LAX-SYD at the gate. #1 on the UG list, 4 seats open.
2. SYD-LAX-ATL on a Friday. Cleared SYD-LAX 48 hours out. Don't remember but I think I got LAX-ATL at the same time.
3. ATL-LAX-SYD on a Thursday (SO DUMB) ) didn't clear ATL-LAX, LAX-SYD cleared at the gate. #1 and #2 on UG list, 2 seats open.

I am DM and had Reserve, companion has nothing.

Will be flying SYD-LAX-ATL and back in June/July. Will be PM. Already crossing my fingers.
