RUC request processing and upgrade list

I have two flights tomorrow where I do not stand a chance to get upgraded but decided to use a RUC to get a better shot. Called the PM desk and the representative said she applied the RUC but it would be waitlisted (of course) and if it was used on only one flight, it was gone. Half hour later, checked the upgrade lists and I have not moved up at all. Should I worry about the RUC being correctly in the system? First flight is on SkyWest if that matters.

Thanks.

Yes, be worried. You should have moved up the wait list. One thing you can try is to go to DL.com and "check in again". Even if you've already checked in, you can check in again. If your position on the list still doesn't change, call back and explain what you saw and ask them to fix your RUC request. To correctly apply an RUC takes about 10 obscure not automated manual steps, and there's no verification the steps are all done correctly. The check in action is the only time the steps are verified - if you move up the list, you are probably set up correctly, if you do NOT move up the list, there is definitely something wrong.

Re checking in fixed it for the first flight, not the second. The second has a weird comment though right above the link for checking the upgrade list -
Upgrade Status: Upgrade Waitlisted
But I am still where I was on the list.

Sometimes I have to call 3 times. When you're on the phone you can always ask who else is using a RUC in front of you. Sometimes it'll help ease your mind to know "theres 1 DM with a RUC in front of you." If you want to post route/time/current UG list/amount of seats open in F we can give you a better idea of where you stand.

I would call and ask the agent to check to see if it has been processed properly. I usually tell them that I have had them processed incorrectly the first time and just want to check. Frequently the agent tells me some step was omitted and that it is now fixed.
mnbp above is completely correct - To correctly apply an RUC takes about 10 obscure not automated manual steps, and there's no verification the steps are all done correctly. - it is one of the worst things in the Delta FF program.

Route is PSC-MSP-BOS, flts 4714, 848 on 5/11. Right now I am on the upgrade list for 4714 twice, at #1 and #5. I am #8 for 3 seats on 848. I was #8 before I called to use the RUC, but the call caused the additional message about being waitlisted on the trip screen for 848. Still somewhat confused. Guess I will have to call.

You could also tweet @Delta. They have been good about fixing stuff like this quickly for me in the past. If you are on the list twice, something is almost certainly messed up. You should see two seat maps for each flight, one that shows your current seat and another that shows FC but does not let you select a seat.

Called back and got a great phone agent who was able to straighten things out and after checking back in when she was done, I am now at the top of both lists. I love this forum for the advice, help and information.
