Experiences on AM and transiting MEX

I'm using DL miles to buy a complex itinerary part of which is on AM. I notice there's no AM forum and I know DL people have a lot of experience with AM as a partner but I've never flown them. So I wonder:

How's the experience on AM business class? NRT-MEX and MEX-LAS?

Can I transit in MEX international to international without entering Mexico? How much connection time is suggested?

Thanks anyone who knows.

Have you tried a forum search? There's a few useful hits in the first page of results:

(FT search often isn't great but "Search Titles Only" helps a lot)

I have no direct experience but from having read a bunch of stuff it seems AM biz may be a slight letdown, and you will have to clear immigration in Mexico even when connecting to another international flight.

Yes you'll have to clear immigration, uncheck bags, clear customs, recheck bags, clear security. MEX is a crowded airport that is operating beyond capacity, so things do back up sometimes. 90 mins minimum, 2 hours is nicer.

AM 787s are decent in J

I literally just landed at LAX on my first AM flights from Buenos Aires to Mexico City to LAX. Sitting in the AS Board Room now so I can answer your question!

I used Skymiles for the EZE-MEX-LAX legs.

The EZE-MEX flight was on the new 787. I have never slept so well on a flight in J. I think they have the most comfortable seats I have ever been in (Kenya Airways new 777 is similarily comfy, too.)

The food sucked. Sorry...but it did. I would recommend eating before you fly. There wasn't much of it...quality was not worthy of an International Business Class flight. Service was mediocre. But since the flight left Buenos Aires at 12:25, all I cared about was the lie-flat, which I give a 10/10. The blanket and pillow are nothing like DL's International J stuff, but it was adequate and kept me warm.

The cabin service wasn't special, either, but honestly I didn't care.

This was my first time transiting through MEX. Everyone has to clear customs/immigration--even if connecting. It was quick, painless, and no line. I think it took less than 20 minutes to get from gate, through customs/immigration, through security, and to the lounge. Again....literally painless landing at 8am.

The AM Business Class lounge as a spa (didn't use it but thought it was a nice touch, or if you have to pay for it). It didn't really have anything special about it except it was very clean.

Just flew a 737 MEX-LAX. VERY comfy (US domestic-style) FC seats with a leg rest. Food was not great, either. Again, I would eat before you fly.

LMK if you have any other questions! ^^
