Will I earn Skymiles?
Hi all-
Need some clarification around earning Skymiles while flying on Alaska Airlines metal.
I just booked a round trip on Alaska but currently have my Delta Skymiles number associated with the ticket, so that I can earn MQMs.
However, I used a Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan Gold Guest Upgrade certificates to upgrade both legs of my flights. I believe this means my fare code is now "U".
On Alaska Airlines website, it says that U Fares do earn miles. However, on Delta's website it says any fare not listed is not eligible for miles and the U fare is not listed.
Looking to confirm if this ticket will or will not earn Delta MQMs as a U Fare ticket on Alaska metal??

It will go by the original fare class not upgraded. Depending g on how AS sends it across to DL you may have to call DL to get credit. Sometimes DL systems only get the U flown with no original fare class and thus credit zero miles. A phone call to DL if that happens is normally all it takes. They can get the ticket pulled up and see the original fare class and credit. I've done it before and it seems random as if it works or if I have to call.

It is most likely that it will post as flown in U and you'll get no credit. You'll need to send a request to DL with 1) proof of the original class of ticket paid and 2) a description of what happened. There's another thread about this with more detail...
