Reactions to SkyMiles 2016 Program
 

Only a few moments away from Delta's proposed announcement of the new SkyMiles 2016 program.

Just creating a thread here for people to voice their reactions.

I purposefully did not make any reservations after next week, just in case.

Changes to the program can happen at any time. For example, they announced the increased MQD's requirements for 2016 status a few months ago. The changes with Comfort+ were just announced on Dec 8th, even though it affects those with status earned for the 2015 program year. There may still be more changes in store, but don't expect anything to be announced at the stroke of midnight. You will not likely here about any program benefits changes for 2016 until later in the year.

I'm very interested if there are any Choice Benefit changes. Since they won't let people choose their 2016 CB yet, there's a good chance there will be changes. Maybe they'll be positive ones :)

Again, I wouldn't expect any big news for 2016 yet. The Regional/Global upgrade certs were not announced until December 2013 -- after many had already made their choice benefits picks for the 2014 program year.

Even worse, I had 6 SWU expire unused (the shifting of the fare classes with the addition of XVE caught me by surprise)

Please do not change new 2016 SkyMiles program and I hate it! You have to eliminate MQD, and bring it back SkyMiles benefits and earned 100% base miles for all airlines & especially for Delta and earned 100% MQM for all airlines & especially for Delta, as well.

SkyMiles 2016 was just released.

One change I see is that Diamonds will board as Premium passengers.

No real surprises when selecting the 2016 (and 2015) choice benefits, as expected Dalta added the Delta Sky Club Executive Membership Upgrade option for DM;

And this might be a bug, seeing this when checking my wallet and look at my Delta Sky Club membership:

Current:Individual Membership
Valid from 03/01/15 thru 01/31/16

Upcoming: Executive Membership
Valid from 02/01/16 thru 03/23/16

These are the 2015 program year benefits, not 2016. I'm afraid you have your years confused. We know that it take more MQD's this year to qualify for status in 2016, but other than that, you can't really say what the benefits will be in 2016 as DL does not announce them and lock them in a full year in advance.

They have updated the 2016 specific changes last night. Same doc but some of the benefits have been changed. See the Medallion boarding priority and the DM Skyclub membership.

Wow they actually gave DMs a little something more then last year.

The Medallion boarding priority is a 2015 benefit, not 2016. I suppose you could say the DM Skyclub upgrade choice benefit is a 2016 benefit. I don't know if OP was just talking about choice benefits, or the overall 2016 benefits (which can, and likely will, change over the course of the year). Even the choice benefits can be changed later in the year (see note above about late change introducing RUC's/GUC's).

<lowly silver steps up to the mike> Is that change to accessibility to EC, er, DC+ for silvers at the 24 hour mark for all flights new? I only recall ever being asked if I wanted to pay for those seats.
