I did SEA-HKG up front and HKG-SEA in EC. The return wasn't as painful as I'd feared. It helped the guy next to me was rather small.
I did 2 of the ATL-DXB MRs last year in seat 29A on a 777 and was honestly very comfortable the entire 15+hrs. That's the bulkhead row of EC.
I'm not overweight and have no problem with EC on any of the Delta planes.
But I think I want to use my next GUCs for my trip to BKK as I'll have PHX-LAX-NRT-BKK and back....which is a lot more hours in the air than HKG-SEA.
I booked a ticket in J on the same flight to HKG (140k SM---LOW!) for my girl (who has never been out of the country let alone anywhere near a Business Class seat.) LoL.
So I might be riding in EC solo while she sleeps peacefully in J on the return.

Good man! I booked my fiancée an FCM fare for an upcoming flight where she's alone since she has no status. When we fly together I try to book on the same PNR so there's no issue with upgrades. We've flown at off-peak times and been upgraded a couple times. Once we flew to N. South America and I was upgraded despite requesting to not be, so I had to give my F seat away to a non-rev.

Yes!
I booked by phone and the DM Agent suggested linking the PNRs, which I didn't know could be done for tickets originating from different departure cities. I'm flying PHX-SEA and she is PDX-SEA and we catch the same SEA-HKG flight. ^^
Staying at the Intercontinental. Rather than pay $400/night I used 50k IHG points per night.
