Data point on VS upgrades
Flying today on VS 21 LHR-IAD on a DL W fare (VS K). Checking in at LHR I was quoted 1199 UK pounds to upgrade to upper class. Actually not too bad, but not worth it for me. The original ticket DCA-ORD-JFK-LHR-IAD was about $1800 in VS PE. Walk up 1 way LHR-IAD is about 5000 UK pounds on the VS web site.
Also asked about using DL miles, although pretty sure that wouldn't work. Was sent to the ticket desk where that was confirmed, but the agent said it was coming. Don't know what she knows....
Anyhow, the Clubhouse is very nice. Three different smoked salmons on the deli bar, yum!

$1900 upgrade from prem eco to upper class? That's a terrible offer IMO. 1/2 that price would be acceptable. Upgrade from prem eco to UC with miles would be nice.

In VS view, this was a discounted PE ticket. There was a cheaper upgrade from a higher fare, not sure what it was.
