Program year end question
Hi everyone,
Long time lurker, first time poster.
I have a question that I've not been able to answer by reviewing posts.......
I'm 12 segments short of making Gold for next year. I may be able to fit 6 trips in before the end of the year but maybe not.
I'm confused about the program year end date,
My account shows that I have silver status from Mar 1 2015 - Jan 31 2016. Does this mean that I have until Mar 1 of 2015 to get those 12 segments in?
If not, how will rollover effect me?
Thanks for your advice.
Skymiles details:
MQM - 39783
MQS - 48
MQD - $15968
Card Spend - 3-4k

Welcome to FT.
You have to complete your qualification by midnight, 12/31/14 - fly the segments by then.
If you remain as Silver, you will roll over MQM's in excess of 25,000. Segments and Spens (MQS & MQD) do not have a rollover component.
The end of the Medallion year that you have qualified for, 2015 ends on 1/31/2016.

No, you must get all your segments in by Dec 31st this year. You are confusing the current Medallion program year which runs through Feb 2015, with the Medallion earnings year which always corresponds to the calendar year.
The extra grace months (only 1 month starting next prorgram year) in the program year is to allow end of year miles/segments to post and people to clear up account discrepancies while continuing to maintain their status.

The period for earning MQM/MQS corresponds with the calendar year. The program year in terms of benefits is slightly offset from that (previously ended at end of Feb, now moving to Jan 31) with the caveat that you get your status as soon as you earn it.
So, the clear answer is that if you want Gold for 3/1/15 through 1/31/16, you need to make it to 50,000 MQM or 60 MQS by end of day 12/31/14. If you do make it to one of those thresholds, given that you already have more than enough MQD, your Gold status would be active within a few days.
If you do not meet 50,000 MQM or 60 MQS by 12/31/14, then you will be Silver through 1/31/16 (as you can already see) and will roll over the number of MQMs you have above 25,000. If you stopped today, you'd roll over 14,783 MQM. However, Delta does not provide MQS rollover, so it's back to the drawing board there. Also, note that you will have no rollover if you make Gold by reaching 60 MQS but your MQM stays under 50,000.
