I've flown many years and have had great/good/bad service on NW and DL. I do not see what a Union would do to improve my flt on DL? I see what the Union / Management is doing at UA and soon to come AA / US. It's not good. DL has been Non-Union for 70+ years (except pilots and a few others), and has been great for me. Hell, I'll take a 7-8% profit sharing check. Under a Union contract, would you receive that? I don't think so unless written into the contract. I read DL also gave raises recently. Just get me from A-B with decent service, a smile and on-time. If you think DL is a crap company - apply at the "new UA". I now fly DL LAS-SLC-SFO to avoid UA. Or, LAS-SFO on WN. As for things getting bumpy. I think most FA's are happy, unless it is a fake smile and greeting. I don't hear all the "DL hate" coming from behind the curtain, and yes we can hear it. Lately it seems to be "DL just started XXX-YYY, I going to bid on that or I'm going with the kid's to MCO or OGG next week. And if this Union talk is going to start again - please don't put me though it again at 35,000 feet in a tube of metal, .....ing behind the curtain . I paid for my seat and can I have another G&T with lime. Thank you. :) |
Who said the FAs are going to unionize? It's the Pilots who are starting their Section 6 openers. They want their increases.
All I was saying is that it hasn't gone unnoticed how well the Pilots are treated vs the non-union employees. "Thank you, here are your headphones." The employees are professionals. ALL of the employees. Because it's not like UA, means the employees are doing their jobs and keeping it professional. It doesn't mean the group is totally happy behind the scenes. NWA FA |

NWA FA Not defending pilots or any other workers. How much training does it take to qualify to be a FA???? I think it is 4-5 weeks in the USA with a GED. Fact! What does it take to become a pilot? I guess a little more. Give those headphones to your grandson to sell on eBay, it's a win-win = learn business. Perhaps you could put that 8% profit sharing check DL gave out to good use. Under Union rules - you would not receive a profit sharing check (if DL was Union). Are you saying the pilots are treated better because they are Union members? How about training, degrees, knowledge, hours in the air, Military background, etc. Big difference than can I have a lime with my drink. All I was saying is that it hasn't gone unnoticed how well the Pilots are treated vs the non-union employees. "Thank you, here are your headphones." I will be in 2B - refill please. :) |

Of course they can. That said, based on the OP...they seemed to suggest pilots are treated better because they're union

FAs? A pair of Delta headsets, a thank you for the successful summer. Not setting well with the family members. Oh, and all employees at Delta are getting new uniforms. NWA FA |
Not sure of the timing of this thread, but an International Association of Machinists organizing billboard, aimed at flight attendants, is currently up on Camp Creek Parkway on the route employee buses take into ATL.

Is the OP (NWAFA) a Pro-Union person?
I doubt it is going to get bumpy at all. Nearly all of the PMDL FAs are happy. Some of the PMNW FAs are happy. The old union line is retiring or being eliminated. They won't be getting that profit sharing if they go union. They won't go union. Just crappery and propaganda....jaded warnings of "bumpiness" from the fringe. |
No surprise this nonsense gets posted by someone who still clings to the handle 'NWA' FA. You're a DL FA.

That being said, NWAFA shows up here on occasion to remind everyone how bad the FAs have it and agitate for a union. It seems an odd venue for it, but whatever floats her boat. |
OT: Believe NWAFA is actually a he
Regarding his name. Everyone can see to the left under his nick that: Join Date: Jun 2006...that's long before NWA and DAL merged |
We love to beat up on the OPs! Point is valid. It "appears" that the pilots have it better, and get better terms from the airline, because of their union representation. And with the reopener it could get even better.
All those stepping on the OP, are you saying if the pilots did NOT have a union they would have exactly what they have now or better? If the pilots do have it better, then why would any group not think about it. And I could care less one way or the other. |

For other employees, including FAs, there are few constraints on supply and the requirements for entry are very low (e.g. HS diploma or GED and no skills that require specialized training beyond some advantages for foreign language speakers). Large supply of workers and low barriers to entry = low wages. |

Any photos of the new uniforms? Perhaps the mini skirts from the 1960's? ;););) |
