Funny Experience re: Eats Boxes
I was sitting next to a dead-heading FA who was very polite and excited about her upcoming days off.
I used a coupon to grab an Eats Treat box this morning. This is the box with the Wheat Thins, spreadable cheese, salami slices, fruit snacks, Goldfish crackers, and Oreos. The box was completely sealed in plastic wrap when I began to open it.
Upon opening the box, I found the pack of fruit snacks already open. The fruit snacks were scattered throughout the box, and one of them was stuck to the inside wall of the box.
My first thought was a change in air pressure caused the package to burst. But, the package was cleanly cut across 90% of its width about 1/3rd of the way down from the top seal.
I nudged the FA seated next to me and showed her the box. She said "Oh, now that's just weird. I've never seen anything like that." She and an on-duty FA chatted briefly about it and they gave me another box without even asking.
All in all, a relatively minor experience, but I got a laugh out of it. I did enjoy the second pack of Goldfish crackers.

Best guess? The place that packs all of these up opened the box containing the fruit treats with a box cutter, and the packer tossed them in your box without noticing it had been sliced.

Was it the type that comes with your annual Medallion packet, or the type that prints with your boarding pass?

I think more amazing than this, is the fact that you were able to use a coupon for a snack box!

I would guess there's many versions of coupons out there.

The coupon was one that came in my 2014 Medallion package. It specifically lists "Nonperishable Food Item" or something to that effect.
