Uhh? No Meal: MIA-MSP

Hi All,

Flying on DL 2322 MIA-MSP (3:27 PM departure) in first class... According to Delta's websites all flights "MORE THAN 1,500 MILES (3.5 HOURS +)" will "receive a complimentary meal, in addition to our snack selection." See: https://www.delta.com/traveling_chec....../dining.jsp

Flight I am on does not have a meal... Total distance: 1,503, flight time 3 hours 56 minutes.

Am I missing something? Why have a policy if you're not to going to follow it? And if it's variable, why not hedge it and say "meal service may be available on flights over 1,500 miles, depending on how we feel today..."

ExpertFlyer Paste:
DL 2322
MIA 3:27p → MSP 6:23p
Terminal 1 - LINDBERGH
Equipment: M88
Meal(s): R, R, R
Time: 3h 56m
Miles: 1503
Reliability: NA / NA
Update 17:19 EDT
Delta has replied that their own meal policy does not apply to all their flights.
Later, Delta states that the meal policy for >1500 miles only applies to *dinner* flights.

Regards,

mbwmbw

What does it say on your DL app? Care to post a screen shot? Are you on the flight now, and did you ask?

Delta.com says "First/Business Class Meals: Refreshments" for this flight.

DL cuts it a little closer, pegging MIA-MSP at 1,501 miles.

You can always take a video of the FA telling you there is no meal, upload it to YouTube along with that other video of yours we've been waiting for, and tweet links to both to DeltaAssist.

I fly MSP - TPA at least monthly. I normally take a 2:15 pm return flight, and have never had a meal in first class. I have only had meals on these flights when they originate closer to a standard meal time.

Thats a rough time. MSP-BOS is about 1100 miles and when they run near or through a meal time, there has always been a meal. Sounds like bad timing.

MSP-TPA is almost 200 miles shorter, and falls squarely within DL's 900-1,499 mile range that sets meal windows of 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM and 4:00 to 8:00 PM (only the snack basket from 1:31 PM to 3:59 PM). OP's flight, being longer than 1,500 miles, is supposed to be catered with a meal for First Class for departures all day long between 5:00 and 8:00 PM.

DL app says refreshments. GDS says refreshments. I am on the flight now, crew stated there is no meal and they were surprised as well.

Per your request, an image:

Well I was going to say Delta.dumb shows less than 1500 miles for your route but it shows: Medallion® Qualification Miles (MQMs) earned = 1501

So you have them on this one as we all know Delta.com is the best source for correct Delta info. You should be eating:

2First Class complimentary meal times: flights of 900-1500 miles -- breakfast is served on flights departing between 5 am – 9:45 am; lunch is served on flights departing between 9:46 am – 1:30 pm; and dinner is served on flights departing between 4 pm – 8 pm.

Flights over 1500 miles: breakfast is served on flights departing between 5 am – 9:45 am; lunch is served on flights departing between 9:46 am – 3:59 pm; dinner is served on flights departing between 4 pm – 8 pm.

Official Delta Response - the policy does not apply to all fights:

Now DL states that the meal policy for >1500 miles only applies to dinner flights:

Sigh - so the accurate and correct information on Delta.com does not apply to all flights?

Doesn't apply to all flights?
Where does it say select flights get meals, select flights don't?

FLIGHT DISTANCE: MORE THAN 1,500 MILES (3.5 HOURS +)
You will receive a complimentary meal, in addition to our snack selection. On dinner flights 2, enjoy entrées from chef Michelle Bernstein.

Did they at least have the snack type meals they have been putting on later evening flights? Usually a hot sandwich with a cookie.
