Word on the street is that it also dispenses Woodford Reserve and scans Have One On Us on go-arounds and missed approaches.

DL must've gotten a really sweet deal from M$... selecting winblows phones for the FAs and now crappy Suraface tablets for the cockpit.

Kinda makes sense though. DL's IT will fit in perfectly with those devices....

One does not have to be an Apple fanboy to dislike MS, there are other choices.

At least he did not make the obvious "blue sky of death" joke

The OS architecture behind WP8 and Windows RT is much better than iOS or Android. Also they have much better OS support than either of those operating systems. The main problem that is an issue in the consumer world is a dearth of popular apps which would not be a problem for adopting them for a specific business purpose.

For the record I went from iOS to WP8 and will not be turning back.

Something tells me you all haven't tried using FliteDeck Pro on iOS. Microsoft's mobile operating system (which is the only other mobile OS that can run FDP) is much better at doing so. I speak from experience, albeit VFR flying.

I'm certainly not an iFan. I dislike them as well, however on the phone/tablet front Microsoft really is bringing up the rear again. The issue is more with the hardware, although MS has their usual share of problems on the OS side.

The better option would've been an Android based phone for the FAs, but thats a different thread. My comment was more around how DL is going 'all in' with MS.

Am I the only one who thinks its a good idea to have an old fashioned paper manual on board still? I mean...computers do break....especially consumer models like these tablets. Will there be a back up? This is where they get critical saftey info from, right?
