So from what I’ve heard from staff at the Delta One Lounge at JFK, VIP Select will bring you to the Sky Club if you have a non Delta One ticket and to Delta One Lounge if you have a D1 ticket. This could be misinformation, but I’ve also seen this from another FT poster as well.
Makes sense to use the D1 Check-In for VIP select though and the Delta One Check-In areas (like LAX) do have broader access rules than the Delta One Lounges. |
Curious to hear if the ATL arrival or departure service will drive you to (or pick you up from) car rental center? I know SLC does (or used to). But if it would be a service to pick us up planeside (no checked bags) and drive us straight to the rental car center, it would absolutely be worth it. Same for return. Anyone know if this is possible?

Booked service at SLC for next month, and price has gone up to $550 for one person. ($650 at JFK/LAX. Each Additional Person: $100 regardless of airport.)
Agent on the phone said that's as of the first of the month (of this month or next, she didn't clarify.) Still seems 100% worth it for a tight connection for the person who is traveling. Many of the absent-minded professor stereotypes are true for my favorite scientist. He doesn't care about lounge amenities, but will do anything to avoid crowds and will benefit greatly from being escorted to the correct gate. |
Following up, my spouse found VIP Select service at SLC excellent and well worth the price. He hates to travel and turns down most invitations because of it. Existence of this program may affect his willingness to make certain trips. He doesn't think he'd have made his tight connection without it, and loved skipping the terminal altogether.
Since I enjoy travel myself, plus my family is on the opposite USA coast from our home, I am delighted that Delta announced VIP Select for BOS as of May 2025. This may fundamentally change my airline choice going forward, at least when DH is involved. |
VIP select is absolutely worth it especially for tight connections.
This week we used it at DTW with a 30 minute connection. As it happens our connecting flight was delayed so we would have been ok on our own however we were notified in flight that there was an aircraft change and we were bumped on a revenue F fare to coach. I texted our VIP contact and within 20 minutes she had us back in F. Because of the delay our contact gave us an awesome behind the scenes tour in the Porsche. Got to see the 400 miles of baggage conveyors up close and personal. |

https://pro.delta.com/content/dam/ag...t-Flyer-EN.pdf And apparently there are NO basic fare passengers allowed. :D I will be giving it a try next week in ATL. David |
I called to set up the transfer and it was not available at that moment so I was put onto standby. Then I cleared an hour later. Yay Delta!
Pro tip: since you can cancel up to 12 hours in advance, go ahead and make that reservation early. The agent recommended a month ahead. Right now looking at a B to F transfer...... David |

David I though I was hosed and would get driven around the concourse on the cart, but the agent dutifully and cheerfully took me down the to car and we drove to one of the A Sky clubs. I left my carryons in the car at her suggestion and we went up to the club. She told me when she would be back to fetch me, and she showed up promptly and we went back to the vehicle, drove to the departure gate, and then up the stairs. All in all a pretty nice experience. I enjoyed chatting with the agent. David |
One last note - I reviewed my SM account and I did not earn MQDs for the VIP Select fee.
There isn't anything I can find that says I should have, but I thought maybe..... David |

I’ve had complimentary Porsche transfers about five times, each due to last-minute changes within 24 hours while connecting to an international flight. I believe three of those instances were in coach.

SEA Experience Query:
 Came to this thread today to ask: Has anyone used VIP Select at SEA (Seattle) for a tight connection? My itinerary meets MCT, but SEA has burned me before, usually due to gate traffic or terminal changes. I more often fly Alaska and have status with AS, but am trying Delta again due to changes in the Atmos program and a better departure time for a small regional airport. SLC Data Point to Share: :tu: While I'm here, though, perusing old posts reminded me I never wrote about my spouse's VIP Select experience this past holiday season. He is still a reluctant, somewhat anxious traveler, and he was flying during peak holiday season with his elderly father. Perfect candidates for this service! Unlike DH's first SLC transfer I posted about above, stuff went wrong in December 2025. They arrived into SLC just fine, but their connecting flight either was canceled or there was weather-related trouble causing general delays. (Apologies, I've forgotten the details.) My two travel-naive loved ones ended up spending 8-10 hours at SLC in a Delta Lounge. The VIP Select representative kept on top of changing conditions and helped them re-book/track changes, ensuring they ended up on a red eye to get them home hours late, but not days late. Since I don't remember endless complaints about the seating, the agent must also have ensured they were still in FC seats and together. It was a stressful, unpleasant layover for my family members, but I would've been hearing CONSTANT worried updates without the VIP Select rep on the ground to manage the IROP. For me, this service is well worth its cost when my spouse travels without me. He's highly in demand and amazing at his work, but has nearly zero bandwidth for many of the daily SNAFUs the rest of us deal with. That's effectively my job, and VIP Select made my job much easier this time. It is completely obvious to me why there is a booking contact separate from the traveler contact; executive assistants and I are the target demographic, for sure. |
