For the AS MVP and MVPGs keeping score at home

1/25 SMF-ATL 12:45pm, no upgrade
1/25 ATL-GSO 10pm upgrade at gate
1/28 GSO-ATL 6am no upgrade
1/28 ATL-SMF 9am no upgrade
4/4 STL-LGA 5:30pm upgrade at gate

Mrs PV_ is 0/5 as AS MVP missing badly on all segments of an SMF-SLC-ATL-GNV-ATL-SMF itinerary this weekend.

Next trip is in paid F (UP fare).

Glad this happened but not sure why...

Booked X fare with Mrs. Guru on same PNR. MCO-SAT. She has no status so far in 2015. At T-28 hours received UG notice (6:15 PM on Thursday for Saturday 10:45 AM departure).

I assumed no UG would happen due to her non-status status. What happened?

You cleared at the companion UG window, which is what you clear at if both you and your non-status companion on are the same PNR. They're rare because companion UG's clear after all other Medallion UGs. The UG companion window (well, when it clears at the window) is at 1 day prior to the flight, which actually, the sweeps begin in ATL around 5:00 pm the day before - that's why your UG for a Saturday flight cleared on Thursday evening.

Or is this just a silly post because they're so rare that you know how it works but never thought it would happen?

Definitely not a "silly post." I had no idea this was even possible. I was willing to purchase the X fares because this was a CRJ and 4AB was available and those seats would have been fine on a MCO-SAT NS. I almost used my DM Choice Benefit to gift her GM status, but wanted to wait to delay the GU expiration for as long as possible. I assume had she been GM we would have both cleared at the GM window?

I was upgraded MIA-LGA today as an FO, which was a nice surprise (especially since I missed the upgrade on Thursday's LGA-MIA flight). When I checked in online I was in Economy class, but when I got my BP at the airport, it was for 2C!

As a PM, one upgrade MSP-LAS on a 753 and one RDU-LAS on a 738. Didn't even get to fly the RDU-LAS, as a Mx IROPS resulted in an involuntary reroute and back into coach. 4 more segments / opportunities coming up on Memorial Day weekend. I'm betting those will be 0/4.

Perfect 25/25 on USAir as CP.

1-for-39 on paid fares. I'm sure my fare classes hurt my chances. Plus, RDU-ATL-RDU is a high medallion market.

I honestly think my 1 upgrade, 3/10/14, was for my birthday. I'm normally nowhere near the top of the upgrade list for RDU-ATL. This upgrade cleared 3-days in advance.

My wife (no status) and I (GM) were upgraded on an award ticket, MSP-RDU on a Saturday late-night flight. There were 12 seats in FC....2 were ours, 2 were paid, 6 were upgrades, and 2 were off-duty FA's. Light load factor that night.

Just wondering how people are being upgraded on international flights? I am a DL PM and have never been upgraded on international flight?

Rough stuff aww3583, that mirrors my experiences in RDU as a FO from 2010-2014. If you ever get a chance to route yourself via LGA or JFK the RDU-NYC flights are usually a sure thing.

SWU certs. I used to get 6 or 8 a year. not sure. But that is the only gift I have ever chosen. So I always have those.

Not sure if there is any other secret. Aside from working for DL. :P

I'm 3/44 on the year, all upgrades happening on weekend trips to cities other than home - made PM recently so hopefully that improves but doubt it as my normal leg (DTW to LAX and back) is full of DMs who can't get upgrades either. Hopefully I have better luck at my next gig once my current project ends.

Delta does not upgrade Medallions to BE on International Flights.

If there is an oversold situation in Economy, then medallions are upgraded to BE due to Operational reasons (Op-Ups).

Now, DMs get 4 Global Upgrade Certificates which can be used in any fare class to upgrade from Economy to BE.

19/20 so far this year as a DM, only miss on IRROPS into a almost-entirely full flight where I was the last one to miss out. Even 1/1 on AS!
