Who lost my bag/assumes liability?

Started my travel HNL-ATL-LGA-NAS on the 21st on DL. I arrive in LGA on the 22nd and pull up to the gate as the LGA-NAS flight is pulling away despite sitting outside our gate for 30 minutes...

Delta then rebooks me for LGA-MIA but then boots me over to AA for MIA-NAS. Then, wouldn't you know, no bags in NAS, virtually no customer service at the airport and definitely no one that knows what's going on. There were no DL people at the airport for who knows what reason, but I filled out a lost baggage form with AA.

I have zero clue if DL even transferred my bags to AA.

DL assist told me to keep my receipts

Who would you suggest I give my expense receipts to?

DL checked the bag, so they should assume liability. Have you checked the app to see it's last scan?

Yes. Last scan was for plane side LGA-MIA

You should be able to track some of the movements of your checked bags on delta.com. Other than that, AA is responsible for everything regarding the bag as they were the last carrier.

But how do I know if they even received the bags?

Sounds like DL never rerouted and rechecked your bags over to AA. Its likely they are still sitting in MIA.

Since you have status with Delta, submitting your receipts to them probably will give you the best chance of getting paid.

There are those who would tell you to double-dip...

Technically the last carrier you traveled on which is . . . AA! That's whom you submit your lost baggage claim to. Then it's between AA and DL to sort out the mess internally. Mom and Dad got transferred to DL from AA @ ORD and were told to file the lost baggage claim with DL since DL was the terminating carrier. They connected from another AA flight.

Not your problem. AA is who you file with. Up to them to sort it out with DL.

That's exactly their job to find out, by their interline agreement with Delta.
