Interline baggage on a same day return

Basically, to cut a long story short, I am looking to take 4 DL flights in First in order to renew my status on Virgin Atlantic. I have found one trip that is relatively inexpensive: LAS-ATL-MCI then MCI-MSP-DCA. My question is will the checkin agent be able to interline my bags straight to DCA or will i have to check them in again at MCI.

Many thanks again

If you are doing a same-day return, do you really need checked bags?

Technically, this isn't an "interline" bag issue because the flights are all on Delta. "Interlining" is a checked bag that goes from one airline to another.

I believe -- without being certain -- that this can be done by linking the two PNRs, which will take a phone call to Delta.

If the question is not definitively answered here, my recommendation in any event is to call Delta, particularly if you don't have enough time at MCI to claim your bag, recheck it and reclear security.

It's not really a same day return, the same way it's not really . It's two tickets: one from LAS to MCI via ATL and another from MCI to DCA via MSP. In essence, it's LAS to DCA with connections at ATL, MCI and MSP.

Yes, they can through check the bags to a destination on a separate ticket.

You might want to have a hardcopy of the second flight on you, and make certain they get it right.
