HELP! Finding an M fare!
Hey everyone!
I'm looking for an upgrade-able fare between BOS and either DEL or BOM. Before the fare class alignment, M fares were going way cheaper, and now they've seen a huge spike!
What's the best I can do with an M fare? Would I be better off using Avios or something? their Business class is cheaper than most fares!

if you ask me, DL M fares used to be a good deal. 50% bonus MQMs and at reasonable prices. Now, although upgrade inventory has gotten somewhat better on international flights, the cost has gone way way up and they eliminated the bonus MQM's. Personally, unless your using miles or your company is paying for the ticket, you might want to consider flying in EC and with a real good set of noise cancelling headphones.

checking random dates in May, I pulled a M fare for $3,000. It was actually Y on the return, so you would earn the 50% bonus MQMs on the inbound. Actually, thats not to shabby. To bad though that the plane is a non flat bed equiped one.

Anyone remember during the fare alignment that I said M fares would get pushed up because there are more buckets below it? Hi, guess what, its happening!
Not sure where upgrade inventory is getting better... I see nothing for most tpac months out.

The one random date I checked for bos to bom, there was OP inventory.
there is way to many people who constantly think negatively; the glass is half empty mentality.

Its easy to think negatively, or at least be very cynical with how DL has been lately

All of the negative changes and devaluation of the program and benefits that are either instituted or being instituted in the upcoming months/year.

but the OP isnt going TPAC. Plus, while you might not see upgrade inventory (OP bucket now), at least he/she will get it at the gate providing there are seats available, and the OP comes ahead of any Non revs.

Also, miles UG waitlists don't transfer to the gate. It's not clear whether OP wants to use miles or SWUs.
And OP said he is going to DEL or BOM, which means probably a KL metal flight. If it goes to the gate, KL agents are notorious for not knowing or caring about waitlisted SWUs. This forum has heard stories of waitlisted SWUs not clearing on KL flights where buy-ups from Y to J were being sold at the gate.
IMO anyone who buys a YBM fare without confirming the UG at the time of purchase needs his head examined.

I completely agree. I'm seeing lots of upgrade inventory, but the re-alignment of fares has made M on this route dramatically more expensive!
