Delta in talks to purchase of new jets

Delta Air Lines Inc. (DAL) is talking to Airbus SAS (EAD) and Boeing Co. (BA) about buying $1 billion or more of new jets as the planemakers phase out their current single-aisle models, people familiar with the matter said.

How about order the A320neo or 737-9MAX? It's whether DL will decide to order the A321neo by replaced the 757 aircraft. I think DL will eventually to orders the 737-7MAX. This will be first launch customer.

Not a big fan of either jet myself, but far better than the DC9/MD88/90/717's we have, and if it helps mothball more godawful RJs then I'm a fan of the move.

The only single-aisle jet that I'm truly a fan of is the 757. Really wish that plane was still in production.

I don't mind the MD-88 and MD-90. Something to be said for an 80% chance of not ending up in a middle seat, and the 2-across side of the aisle is great for traveling with a companion.

every fly one of delta's miserable 757s from the west coast to hawaii? your opinion may change.

but really, it's absolutely NOT about what plane they buy, but how they outfit the interior. it absolutely does not matter if the bird says boeing or airbus, as long as what happens inside the cabin is pleasant.

Well in the earnings discussion yesterday R.A. mentioned that they might opportunistically buy some used 737NGs or A320 OEOs as MAXes and NEOs come online elsewhere. So it's possible someone at Bloomberg misunderstood R.A.'s statement. But assuming that didn't happen, and this is a legitimate order for new planes, I feel like it's Boeing's to lose, given the 739ER order and the 30 options that were included with it (30 frames also being in the range mentioned in the article).

Many people, myself included, like the 757 because of the L2 door. Pax in F are able to relax during boarding, get their PFB, etc.

A 757 should not be confused with a 777 or 747, but the mid-cabin door makes it preferable to the 737.

Seems there may be some confusion on whether or not these are new or used aircraft. Delta does, however, have 30 options for the 737-900ER. These could easily be converted to 737-800's if Delta wanted to. Boeing would also prefer to keep the 737 line busy until the MAX production starts so I'm sure they wouldn't mind helping Delta out.

4A on the MD-88 is one of my all time favorite seats. For some reason I can't articulate, I don't like the MD-90 as well. I just don't feel quite as comfortable in one.

Because the 757 is out of production. Sorry! There is no way to restore the 757 production. You always ask about 757 production for too many times. Enough already!

Sorry Guys!

Dude,

I just joined FT a few days ago, I have posts in the single-digits. How do I always ask about 757 in production? This is the first time I mentioned it.

Are you confusing me with someone else?
