Upgrading on Korean Air using Skymiles?

Upgrading on Korean Air using Skymiles?
Hi All. I have a two part question and would appreciate any assistance.
Please excuse my naiveté for this being my first post and I'm less than a novice in airline reward rules. I'm scheduling LAX-ICN-DPS (Bali) through KE. I do know that I will earn MQM's; though reduced to 50% after March 1, 2013. I am also familiar with the process of booking online through KE and using my Skymiles number.
Question 1: Does anyone have success with upgrading to First- or Business-Class using Skymiles on a paid ($$) KE Economy K fare?
Question 2: If I am able to upgrade would I also earn MQM's for my round trip?

Skyteam upgrade is possible, but it would have to be a full Y fare.

I believe this is also subject to KE's blackout dates.
Discounted J is usually cheaper.
