Clearly the Liberian Civil Aviation Authority is more trustworthy than the FAA.

Sounds like some government official is looking to collect his monthly "gift"

Why do you think so or rather why don't you think so?

Meanwhile, LCAA Director General has quoted Ghana Civil Aviation Authority has expressed dissatisfaction over the airlines' poor customer service bordering on rudeness, indifference or brusque manner by Delta flight attendants, as well as the alleged use of old aircraft on the Ghana-USA route and the repeated major inconvenience and additional costs experienced by Ghanaian customers to mechanical failure of lavatory system resulting to flight reschedules and cancellations.

The Ghanaians also noted that more than 18 reschedules and cancellations were recorded between November and December 2012.

Any know if these statistics are correct? What do they consider an old aircraft? A L1011 like the picture? A 767? Will they only accept a A330?

This article is amazing to me. This government authority has decided Delta might be unsafe to it's people, but the violence taking place just outside the airport's fences is fine?

Agreed.

Because it is Liberia and corruption is endemic in Liberia and Africa in general.

Delta knows quite well how to bribe all the locals at ATL, how can this be that different?

Maybe this has something to do with it?

Should they not complain because it is Africa?

Do you have any evidence of this, or are you just making conjecture?

No, but one needs to treat with skepticism official pronouncements. Let's not, in an attempt to seem concerned about Africa, dismiss what is a very real and very significant problem with official corruption on the continent and the tendency of officials to use these sorts of "inquiries" as a means of furthering that corruption or for domestic political purposes.

Good for them. Flights are delayed all the time.

Sounds like Liberia is picking up where Nigeria & Ghana left off a few years ago, e.g. this silly piece about Delta's Hegemonious Power in Ghana.

That Liberian site really should update their file photos for Delta. Most of the L-1011's have been converted to beer cans by now,.

After reading that article ... All I can say is ... Shakedown.

Would anyone be surprised to find out DL and AA stop flying to this country ... If they deem the hassle vs profit to be made on the route turns out to not be worth it

The odd thing to me about the article is that it references President Johnson, she has done a world of good in Liberia.
If you are unawares who she is, take a quick read:
