Not sure for other aircraft but for the model I work on...we are not to pour anything, even water, in the sink in the forward galley. There is a design flaw where any liquid poured there basically sprays one of the AC packs and could damage it inflight. We are told to dispose of liquids other than water in the toilet as the coffee and soda could corrode the sinks in the lavs. It is common but I always pour the coffee slowly from 3+ feet above the toilet. No FA should ever actually touch the seat with the pot. Please let someone know, if you haven't already. Some of us actually take pride in our work. That is disgusting.

Reminds me of an excellent Ask the Pilot column; dumping things down the toilet is fine, just make sure that it's not dry ice you're disposing of...

Flew MKE-ATL a couple days ago. Early flight. Several people had coffee before the flight left. As we were taxiing, I saw a FA take the remaining pot of coffee and dump it in the toilet and the pot touched the toilet seat. I thought it was disgusting. Is this normal procedure?

Just be thankful that the pot did not touch a computer keyboard.

Is the contagion factor additive or multiplicative?
