Fare Class Question

I recently booked a low tier Business award LAX-BNE-LAX on Virgin Australia and I noticed on that it is booked into Z, which I thought was only for mileage upgrades and SWUs. Do awards come out of the same inventory? Just wondering....

Also wondering what people think of Virgin Australia's Business class compared to DL.

Different airlines have different letters representing their respective fare classes. Z is the correct fare class to be booked into for a biz award seat on Virgin Australia.

correct. Fare class assignment is an arbitrary designation that varies wildly by carrier.
