Another strange web error - extra miles

Got the e-mail saying I got the 500 mile middle seat bonus for Monday, was on the web site and saw 7500 miles listed as NONSTOP NYC MILES. Looked at the detail and there is the 500 middle seat bonus and 2000 for NYC for a total of 7500:confused: I have not been to NYC in over a year.

Hmmmm. . . . 2000 + 500 = 7500.

I've never never heard of DL arithmetic working IN OUR FAVOR before! :p

I hope your posting it here doesn't cost ya!

Thought about that as I was doing the screen shot, then figured that the FT gang would get more comedy out of seeing this then the 7K miles I might lose, that was never really mine anyway. Now if it was a 75K mistake .......

The IT glitch today must have switched the award ticket pricing engine with the mileage calculator. That sort of addition is normally used for international award tickets ;)

What is / was the "NONSTOP NYC MILES" promo?

dongrilla Jan 8, 2013 9:46 pm

+1, I too see 7500 miles posted today.

No such luck for me, but yesterday's flight miles did post within the last few hours. Maybe delta.dumb is smart enough to know that I didn't also fly a NYC nonstop on the same day.

Did you also have a middle seat bonus prompt it?

i just had the exact same thing happen. i got the middle seat 500 mile email and saw 7500 miles posted. i have used both LGA and JFK for a recent award trip (where is was jammed into a middle seat due to an equipment change), but have not paid for a ticket in nearly a month.

Same for me!

Flew Monday morning ATL-EWR ... DM stuck in middle EC seat. Got usual 500 mile email but then checked and got bonus

Customer Service has borrowed software from Rev Mgt and now predicts who will complain before they do, and posts the miles accordingly.

Yes, I did. BTW, do you always get 500 if you pick middle seat or is it random?

While we strive to give our most loyal customers our best seats, unfortunately, that's not always possible. To thank you for your flexibility and understanding, we've credited 500 miles to your SkyMiles account.

in my situation, i was moved from an EC aisle seat on an OGG-LAX (award) flight to a middle seat in standard economy after an equipment change from one crappy 757 to another crappy 757 changed the number of EC seats on the plane. (there's a separate thread on the crappiness of delta's west coast to hawaii fleet, if you're interested).

anyway, i got the email and logged in to see if the miles were there. i found the line item for 7500 miles. i clicked 'Details' and saw an entry for 2000 'Nonstop NYC Miles' and an entry for 500 'MIDDLE SEAT 500 BONUS MI'. how this adds up to 7500, i am not sure, but for the cost of my award flight to OGG i'll take back whatever they will give me.

Only on Mondays.

Is the middle seat 500 miles bonus only for GM/DM/PM members? Or do FOs (like me :p) and kettles get it too?
