SkyPriority for everyone!
Just boarded DL968 SEA-ATL. I took my time in the sky club, and got to the gate as the GA called Zone 1. I figured I would just board in the SkyPriority lane, but to my horror, it was full of kettles! I used the empty General Boarding lane to try to board, and after being ignored for awhile, one of the nice kettles tried to let me in. I explained that I'm in F, and the GA told me that I missed my chance to board early, and need to go to the back of the line behind all the Zone 1. We got into a bit of a shouting match as she said Zone 1 is entitled to use the SkyPriority lane. And the kettles glared at me as I boarded.
At SEA today, SkyPriority = LowestPriority

Happened to me at MCO and many times in ATL. At least in MCO the GA admitted she was letting everyone through the sky priority line and just didn't feel like utilizing the general boarding line. Send a complaint in, nothing will happen, but you will get some fancy sky pesos out of it.

Zone 1 and above is entitled to SP lane...
Think of it this way - what if you had arrived after F had boarded while other *SP* (non-upgraded DM/PM/GM) were boarding? You couldn't cut THEM off. Same thing IMO.

When you look at an upgrade list and see 50 people on it - that means at least 50 people will be in the Skypriority lane and there is no provision for a PREM to cut that line. I sure there are quite a few kettles who plop down the $95 for the gold card to get free bags and zone 1. I think the GA made the correct call.

Horror?
When I see "horror" I think of plane crashes and the like.
Here, OP has no basis to know who belonged where and shouted at the GA.
A good GA would have denied boarding until a Red Coat could assess suitability for flying that day.

You did not receive the memo: SkyPriority is a fully-diluted product with zero value, except, in some cases, the SkyPriority security lane at some airports. Don't count on it saving you any time during the boarding process.
IMHO, when DL started offering SkyPriority to everyone with a DL AMEX, as well as offered it "for sale" on their web site, it no longer qualified as a "benefit."
The way that DL advertises SkyPriority is a red herring.

It is you, OP, who is incorrect. Silver and Zone 1 get to board through the Sky Priority lane following the FC cabin and Diamonds/Plats/Golds. Zones 2-4 (or highest zone number) board through the general boarding lane. If you don't show up when you're supposed to that's your problem and you get to wait behind everyone else in the Sky Priority lane. Since you admitted you got testy and into a shouting match with the gate agent, perhaps you should go find the gate agent and apologize for being wrong and a moron. :/
