Gambling Coming to MSP

http://www.startribune.com/politics/...183837721.html

Electronic "Pull Tabs" which are more or less the functional equivalent to slots. Starting with six locations:

O’Gara’s, operated by HMSHost
Fletcher’s Wharf, operated by HMSHost
Rock Bottom Brewery, operated by HMSHost
TGI Friday’s, a subtenant of HMSHost
Itasca Grill, operated by HMSHost
Hot Dish, operated by SSP America
Surdyk’s Flights, a subtenant of Delaware North Companies
Cocina del Barrio, operated by Aero Service Group

The airport thinks they'll make at least $35 per device per day. The devices in this case are Apple iPads the bartenders/hosts hand out. CASH only. No credit cards.

The devices are run through a charity and the restaurants/bar gets a cut. The MAC (MSP's quasi gov't overlord) gets a cut of the restaurant/bar share as additional rent. Delta has a deal for renvue/concessions sharing for an enplanement guarantee. We'll see if DL comes around asking for more money if this starts making some serious money. A number of agreements are up for renewal in 2016.

We need legitimate gambling at MSP with the proceeds to the general fund, not the Vikings. Video poker, dollar coin slots, etc...

As a DL hub, there is a lot of money that comes and goes each day, much of it out of state. Would be nice to capture some out of state gambling dollars this way vs the "preferred ethnic group" gambling options currently available off property but close to MSP.
