Need helps for checking the availability of CZ flight.

I am trying to get DL award ticket from
SIN to CAN (CZ354)

Or

KUL to CAN (CZ350) (Already hold 2I from here, but can't get two more I's)

on Aug 26, 2013

I need to 4 I class tickets around 1pm departure time.
I found I has 4 tickets on Flightstats.com for SIN-CAN portion (CZ354)

but when i called dl, I was told only 2 tickets or zero tickets from the agent.
I check Wandr.me, it does shows only two available in I.

I use free service on expertflyer, that shows the business class seat infact, all seat is available but 4 seats are blocks for the first row.

Wonder is that anyway CZ will long sell this portion of the seat from 2I to 4I.

I need advise, cause I am traveling with two kids and really hope 4 of us can be on the same flight. I am silver elite, was advise $150 for change fee in the future is the 354 is offer more tickets, but I don't want to lost my others segments of the reservation that already on hold.

Thanks you so much,
Coco

DL collects MH fuel surcharges at ticketing now. The system will automatically price it, so there won't be anything for MH to collect later, based on my experience of flying SYD-KUL-LHR on MH using a SkyMiles award.

Found out that the MH 9080 is codeshare with Southern China, which is same flight, I wonder I can use DL miles to claim MH flight that code share with CZ.

TIA

You can try, but in almost all circumstances, you cannot redeem under a flight number other than the operating carrier's. The exceptions I know are all AF-coded flights operated by other carriers.

That is great to know (and AF-coded flights for sure that is so, as I've flown on JL flights that I booked using DL SM as AF coded). Is it that for other airlines if the flight is not operated by the same airline as it's coded, even if it's available, DL won't let you book it? Or just that other airlines (other than AF) will not release into award inventory flights operated by others under their code? Just curious..

Unless schedules have changed these CZ flights are generally operated by narrowbody Airbus equipment with just 8 business class seats, so the likelihood of finding 4 award seats at any one time may be reduced. I only see 2 on EF for most dates on the narrowbody equipment.

CZ can be found via EF. MH does collect YQ.

I believe it's an inventory thing. AF, for some reason, tends to have award space on flights under their codes operated by other carriers. Most other carriers do not. The other example I can think of is VA/DJ, but that's a bit of an oddity because it's effectively one carrier using two different codes for its flights. It seems you can only redeem for the VA flight number with DL miles, even though the operating carrier is officially DJ.

Notice that too, end up we split 2 set tickets, a set departure from sin, and the other one from Kul at the same time 1:20 ish pm.. So, we will meet at can at same time, so layover at can is less time.

Before I book the ticket today, do we need transit visa at can, I check last time in flyer talk, no one says about visa needed.

There's a detailed transit without visa thread in the China forum on FT. Also check TIMATIC and the Chinese consulate websites.

Thanks, and btw, when I ready to book at 10:30am est this morning, my reservation on CZ part is missing, i was advise the reservation is on hold till mid night today and it just poof... disappeared.
I suspected that the CZ time zone is hit 12am on 26 at the time when I try to book the flight.. (this might be the reason or CZ can pulll their booking that on hold from dl system?

I need to call delta to get everything back.. unfortunally, agents are not know how to find cz flight, and I called more than 10 times.. and still missing my return portion, which mean I am almost back to origin now.. and call tech and he does not able to helps.. so I will have to call later and hope someone know how to work on this .

NOTE: I found WANDR.me is very accurate in inventory, and still see the flight that I need and just hope someone know how to do it.

You might need to ask the DL phone agent to do a "long sell" to get an award seat on CZ. If you think the flight you need has a low seat, try this.
