Segment run advice

I will a have a total of 12 segments by the end of next week.

Is there a way I can pick up 18 segments on a weekend run for under $1000???

I was convinced not to spend money buying MQM's. But maybe I can reach Sliver with a segment run???

Can any one help me plan a trip from ORD-MDW.

I'm a travel companion on a Delta FA's benefits. I can hop on any plane for peanuts. So I'm open to suggestions if I need to start at another airport thats not MDW or ORD.

I have till 12/31 please help me Pro's!!!!

P.S - Non Rev flights don't get any millage.

If you non-rev at a decent enough priority and have access to Zed fares, why spend anyting for FO? What's the payback?

I can't non-rev for buisness trips. I non-rev for recreation and fun only. Can't take the risk of not making it on a flight and miss a client meeting.

For me the payback will be to be able to get in the plane first. Not worry about my expensive carry on luggage having to be checked in.

Not to mention non-reving for business is against the rules (at least it is for Buddy Passes.)

If your main reason for Silver is to get on earlier and not have to check your bag, then a DL Amex card would get you the same priority for boarding as Silver Medallion, for a lot lot lot less than $1000.

Also nonrev is only allowed to be used for leisure travel, not business. Using nonrev travel for a business trip could cause the employee to lose nonrev privileges.

You would need to fly to a large Delta hub (ATL, MSP, JFK) early on a Saturday morning; and then fly around the Eastern half of the US until late at night. You would then repeat the process on Sunday, arriving back in Chicago late in the evening.

I ran a few scenarios. Looks like you can get 4 or 5 segments per day for about $250-$300. It would be very difficult to schedule 9 segments per day on Delta; and your plans would fall apart if even one segment was running late.

My advice is to plan on spending 4 days in the air at a cost of about $1250 if you want the 18 segments. Run the numbers yourself using Kayak. Use segments from Delta hubs to MCI, STL, FLL, MCO, BNA and BOS.

Bring a good book.

The OP said nothing about business travel initially. The OP also has 12 segments which is probably 3 to 6 RT's.

The AMEX Delta card is a much wiser choice for the stated needs.

I fully understand the rules for non-rev. We've had non-rev for over 20 years and use it as well as Zed. We're both also GM.

Maybe you understand the rules for nonrev, but it's not clear that the OP does.
