MQM question

I suspect I know the answer to this already. We are taking a trip which departs Dec 26 and returns Jan 2. The return if it counted in this year would get me Platinum for 2013. I am not really sure I want it. I may prefer to remain gold with a large rollover. I assume the Jan 2 flight would count towards 2013 MQM's? Is this correct? Thanks.

Yes, your flight on Jan 2 would not be counted this year, it would go towards your qualification in 2013. The departure date of each individual flight determines in which year it posts.

I am in a similar position, but I am planning on trying to make Platinum this year.

Just curious about your logic regarding wanting to remain Gold with large rollover and not going Platinum.

Thanks in advance!

If you want the MQMs for 2012, be careful about NYE flights. If IROPs cause you to be rebooked to 2013, you could lose the status you were attempting.
