Hmmm .. not sure anyone has gone there and as it was just crap handed out by a pleasant GA who seriously did not give a darn for a one hour flight there seems to be no reason to end up there.

Well, then, I propose Hudson's Axiom...

When someone diminishes the value of an argument by inserting the struggles of those involved with a catosphrophic events such as 9-11, movie theatre shootings, or the Holocaust.... then, is must be assumed that the Germans are near...

Air Marshall favorite seat 2b? Jeez I'm on atl-cvg and the guy in 2b sure looks like air Marshall material. That's spooky

Certainly the OP got the short end of the stick on this one but looking at it another way. DL upset 1 pax by moving you from 2B to 3xE but had they given you your original seat in EC they would have to inconvenience 2 pax rather than 1.

Presumably that second passenger didn't have a seat assignment until the last minute so he should just be thankful he got on the plane at all.

Or maybe the passenger in EC is me...a lowly FO who grabbed a newly-available EC seat when Delta moved OP.

And since I gave up my aisle seat further back, if you want to move me to a middle seat I'm going to be unhappy as well. Ham sandwiches roll downhill...

The OP said he was upgraded 10 minutes prior to departure. I don't believe it's possible to change seat assignments online once a gate agent has taken control of the flight, so there's no way the hypothetical lowly FO could have grabbed the vacated Economy Comfort seat short of asking the GA.

Final post : sent Delta customer service a simple summary of the event (with the emotion deleted per suggesting in this forum). Two days later got a nice "we are so sorry" email back and the promise of a $75 Electronic Transportation Credit Voucher within 24 hours via a seperate email. Still waiting on the email but the credit is available in my DL account.

Update : the promised email showed up a couple of days later. Case closed.
