Calgary delay last pm

Arrived in Calgary last night on time / DL 5798 at 1145 pm from MSP

Sat on the ground for 3 + hrs waiting to go to the gate / the pilot could give NO explanation although he was in contact with the tower / FA said she had no idea - had never happened

Pulled into gate at 3 PM?

Explanation / compensation / it was CA not the US so don't know if the rules are different?

Thanks

This had something to do with lightning storms apparently? See the comment on the second page of the article.

If that's the case, the pilot should have been able to obtain the information and pass it along.

Ground stops this time of year are common and serious !

It was a mess in Calgary last night with the lightning and the wind. But sitting on the ground and not being able to go to the gate if I understood the OP was a bad situation. Guess the team that guides the plans into the gate were not able to go outside.

The ramp at Calgary was closed for hours due to lightning, so planes could not be marshalled into a gate.

I'm confused. Was this an 11:45 am arrival (in the morning???) that went to the gate at about 3 pm (in the afternoon), or did the plane land at 11:45 pm (very late in the evening???) and go to the gate at 3 am (in the middle of the night????)? The OP says 11:45 pm and 3 pm, which would have been a wait of over 15 hours on the tarmac and should have made the news if this had happened.

The weather reports seem to refer to evening/night storms, for example post #4 above.
