LGA Error

I recently took a flight from LGA to GSP. As this flight uses a commuter airline, we had to board the plane via a shuttle bus from the terminal. We were driven onto the tarmac and pulled up next to one of many planes and boarded as instructed by the grounds crew. I had a feeling that this was NOT our plane as no luggage was being loaded.

Upon entering the aircraft, I noticed that the plane had a first class cabin while the plane we were supposed to be flying was an E-135 which has no 1st class cabin. I asked the flight attendant where the plane was going and she said Savannah. I said, "Well, we are going to Greenville." The flight attendant was rattled and starting yelling, "you can't be on here!" She announced to the passengers already seated to please exist the plane. We all walked back down the stairs to the tarmac and had to wait in the rain at least 5 minutes while the ground crew decided which plane was ours. Once they stopping yelling at each other trying to place blame, we walked across the tarmac to our plane. Fun stuff, no?

The joys of LGA 5A. Part of me would have loved to see this play out if you hadn't been so observant, and the entire cabin found out when the boarding door shuts and FA says "Welcome aboard DL XXX to Greenville."

Had a different situation happen in ATL once where somehow a couple boarded a flight they thought was to MKE, but was actually going to MSP. How they even got into the jetway I still have no idea.

Now those destination announcements the FA makes while we are all boarding seem a lot less silly.

I don't think it would have gotten quite that far, as they would have discovered the issue when there were roughly two people fighting for every available seat on the plane.

True. Unless someone on the ground had somehow switched the planes or something. Obviously I wouldn't wish this situation on any pax, but makes for good daydreaming material

When I worked for us airways at TYS we would occasionally have passengers who were supposed to go to other cities. This was especially common on the dca flights where a similar one gate serves all set up.

One time, I had an older teen come off and say, "is this Greenville spartanburg?" She flew in from DCA and then we had to fly her TYS-CLT-GSP.

Personally, Id love the free mqms.
