Sounds like you were having a bad day and bad luck. Delta did nothing wrong here, you should just shrug this off and move on. It could happen on any US carrier. Cheers.

OP could have said the same thing in the case of the medical emergency; person had a bad medical day, could happen to anyone, not his/her problem, why go the extra mile. Cheers.

There is something to say about rote 'follow the rules' mentality, thus pissing off a family of frequent travelers, and bending the rules in the case of split family (OPs choice, so not THAT much sympathy) and a deserted F cabin.

LOL. Perhaps to DYKWIA can be added MAEFM (Make An Exception For Me).

You stated "kids are banned from F" this is not the case, simply what he was stating is that is a stretch from the reality.

The purser showed up – no, not with drinks or menus, and not to welcome us or greet us by name – but to tell me that I could not be in the Business cabin. Mind you, we were still on the ground, with the door open, I was on my knees in the bulkhead well out of everyone’s way attending to our son...

Were you changing your son in the seat? Gross...

Sorry, I did not realize that 2 yo required complete privacy to change into pajamas. I am afraid it is your attitude that is gross. Prude!

If you want to turn this into a p-----g contest we can do that. You insulted my integrity above, you called the above poster a prude. Do I personally care? Nope. I am not that sensitive at all. But quite frankly, whatever good will you hoped to get from this board decreases with each successive post of yours. As someone above said, some people agree with you, some disagree with you. And that's the way it is going to be. Period. But insulting those who disagree with you makes many begin to question the veracity of your original complaint and your overall attitude, and it won't change a single attitude here about your original complaint. The world does not revolve around you.. As someone else also said, for many of us, it was difficult even getting through your original post because of its length, but many people here in good faith took the time to do so. If you do write DL, ,my last suggestion before I say sayonara and let you wallow in your misery and angst, is to suggest that you cut your original post in half before emailing it to DL. And absolutely finally, people here, whether they agree with you or not, have long memories about those who insult others here and may well judge your future posts and complaints, and their reasonableness or lack thereof, by your attitude in this thread.

And with that, I, too, am through with you and this thread. Bye.

It seems to me the FA was on the defensive. Either by perception or prejudice of you having kids and being split up. Not saying it is right, but it may explain the situation...

I agree completely. I wonder what the responses to this post would have been if the only info from the OP was that they had to fly TPAC with a row of broken IFEs and power ports, with empty seats and only one paying pax in BE.

Not so long ago, that would have been an auto OPUP on DL.

Walt's post ought to be made a sticky for newcomers. I'm in agreement with Mr. Hudson's comments here and I have no ill will towards the OP. In fact, I came across this post when it first went up, scanned it for length and moved on to a different thread. But, I finally read it and I'll also say I'll agree with whomever (I forgot and am not going back to look it up) said that the purser probably reacted due to many experiences of split families between cabins before. If I were the purser, I may not have moved the OP into BE after the IFE/power issues but I certainly would have after the medical emergency (shouldn't there be an abbreviation for that on here...ME? hehe).

Anyhoo, OP, drop the non rev stuff, mention the IFE snafu and the rudeness of the FA and feel free to mention the empty BE cabin. I'm sure it's policy more than anything the kept you out of there...which is stupid, under the circumstances but I don't blame the purser for that.

I've occasionally seen them harrass others sitting near the curtain that they surmise might be trying to invade BE. They never seem to harrass pax on domestic flights in Y coming up to use the forward lav.

They should. Not harass, just stand firm. But the aggressiveness you described in the remainder of your post is unacceptable. Don't get haughty with a pax until they actually force the issue.

Setting aside any emotional opinions on entitlement/NRSA/DYKWIA/babies/PDBs/etc, the correct answer really is this simple. It really is.

Passengers from coach should not enter BE to contact family/friends unless a true EMERGENCY is occurring at which point an FA/pilot should be involved. Changing a diaper isn't an emergency nor is a child vomiting. These are both routine childcare responsibilities, and if both parents feel the need to be present for such events they need to purchase tickets in the same cabin. It would be no different for people traveling with spouses or friends. Outside a true medical emergency I can't think of a situation where contact would be required.

For those who think such a viewpoint is callous and unfriendly, I would question whether they understand the slippery slope of allowing constant visits to another cabin for leisure purposes.

They won't. If an airline does this they will lose out on the F/J business of people who want to bring their children with them. But people who are annoyed by children/babies in F/J obviously aren't going to choose Y instead which is inevitably worse, and they're not going to go to another airline because they're all alike in this respect with the exception of MH.

Why is the policy stupid that the FAs kept him in coach? If I was a solo Diamond in coach and saw someone moved to BE just because they had kids up there I would be livid. Are you really suggesting that DL just move him up front because he has kids??? There's a reason the BE cabin was empty...the OP wanted it but obviously didn't value it highly enough to pay for it.
