VDB Question

So I am flying from MSY-ATL-SAT on Sunday. I managed to get the last seat on the MSY-ATL flight on an B fare (booked one way, last minute ticket) and due to Spring Break, I am thinking the flight will be oversold. I was wondering if I take a VDB, will Delta make the proper arrangements to get me seats on a later departing ATL-SAT flight. That is an A fare on the 5:55 departure. Any thoughts about if I should take the VDB if offered?

Rebooking is part of the VDB routine. It's way too early to know what alternatives exist for SAT on Sunday, other than stating every single non-stop DL flight ATL-SAT is still selling seats in both first and coach.
