The first row of Y on the A320 series aircraft (previously row 5, now row 4) has always had the most room of any row on the plane. It's good to hear this hasn't changed even with the EC mod. I hated when Delta took away the ability to choose the bulkhead row when the reservation systems merged, but at least it is available again and some consolation for the poor upgrade chances.

Beware of A320 upgrades when they assign you row 4. I just had that last Monday and for some reason not related to this, I chose a row 2 seat after getting my upgrade notice.
That was a good thing to do since FC row 4 was MIA in the plane but everyone is right....there was alot of leg room for the new row 4. |
Avoid Row 7
Didn't get upgrade (PM) on newly configured 320 MSP-LAS last Friday and was in row 7. EC not shown on Delta.com or checkin kiosk, but it was there anyway. First, row seven is now the thinline, lesser padding, no raisable armrest, standard recline seat. Second, row six is EC and has additional recline and of course the occupants thereof fully reclined at first opportunity and left it there until prelanding check. Absolutely unpleasant and I confess I rumaged around in the seat pockets a little extra to try and make a point!
Conclusion: ABSOLUTELY AVOID ROW 7. |

Wednesday...DL1774 RDU-ATL N358NW (Ship 3258) had 3 rows of FC and EC

The seat map for DL 1453 MSP-SEA tomorrow (Saturday 2/18) changed overnight from 16F to 12F. Fortunately, I already had 2B. :) As long as there's no FAM I should be okay.

I'm very concerned about my upgrades because so many exMSP elite heavy routes are using the A319s and A320s. When only the A319s were 12 FC, it was generally possible to pick flights with 16 FC on the A320, but avoiding both aircraft types can be very hard.

So much for the EC rollout -- DL has not done anything yet but move the seats around. The FA's state that they have no idea when it will be official but likely June or July.
So, MSP-CZM in row 5 -- very nice on leg room, actually better than F! Asked FA is the EC on an int'l flight meant free drinks -- she had no idea. So, waved HOOU coupons at her, but she refused to take them. Too bad no second service on a 3+ hour flight (due to turbulence I think -- though not too bad in row 5!). When is the official roll out date for domestic EC? |
Can't select row 5 as a FO on an upcoming LGA-MEM on an A320 ;). "We were unable to assign seats to one or more passengers. You may have to choose your seats again." Guess it's back to the exit row for me!
