Odd in flight Exp
DL2342 ATL - EWR
After closing the doors there was one empty F seat. The FA moved a off duty FA from Y to F for the flight. I was third on the list so I'm not to bent out of shape wasn't my seat anyway. Odd part is when they made the announcement that we were on approach the off duty FA got up and moved back to Y.
Now I know that they aren't really suppose to do that anyway but if you aren't going to stay there for the whole flight get the next elite and move them up.
Found it annoying but again I wasn't next so I'm not to annoyed.

How do you know the FA wasn't PM/DM and next on UG list? Maybe didn't wanna bother moving their bags to the front? Maybe they just had been on a long haul, perhaps death in the family and needed a little extra comfort?
I'm selfish and want my crew members well rested, nourished and ready to take care of me. Don't care if I miss an UG every once in a while to that end. I'm sure there's a very good reason and I try to remember "complimentary" doesn't mean "guaranteed".

What are they not supposed to do? Once the doors are closed the free upgrades are over,
One can argue with DL policy on this (and we do), but this does not seam to be a Shena sighting.

Also agree this is a poor policy but as long as it exists, elites need to ask if F boarded full, not just checked in full. If there is an open seat, ask if you will get it if you hold back on boarding. But don't wait until boarding begins because at that point, the last thing on a GA's mind is upgrades.

I don't know for sure but 99.999 sure they weren't but as a pilot who buys tickets on Delta, I have been moved from F to Y for seat dupes, from the exit row to regular seat (today) for equipment changes. I buy tickets vs non rev (anyone at Delta reading).

I don't know that she was not an elite, but my impression from body language of how she interacted with the working FA she wasn't.
Also as I said I wasn't next, i also happened to be in a EC seat so I didn't really care. Just thought that it was odd that they did it. it wasn't a full flight and we boarded quickly so the GA could have grabbed the next person without a delay.
If she was a elite more power to her and I'll shut up now.
