Checking In for a Same-Day Return - MR Help

Hey All.
I am currently in the middle of my first MR, on my way to SJC.

I am turning right around when I get to SJC heading back to ATL.

When I checked in this morning I could not print the BP's for the second half of my trip.

When I land in SJC, I have 55 mins before the plane turns around and heads back to ATL.

I can't seem to find a way to Check-In! DL.dumb won't let me check-in for the flights. When I was in ATL, the kiosks didn't either.

Help is appreciated!

You can always go to the gate in SJC and ask for your boarding passes. It shouldn't be a problem.

OK. Thats what I thought I could do. What I was most concerned about was the timeframe, because I don't want to get stuck because check-in is closed for the flight.

I can't wait for the GA to ask me how I got past security.

Just be honest. Say you're on a mileage run. You're probably not the first person at sjc.

Or say that you lost it at security. And when the ga says, "That's weird, you're not even checked in.". You say, "Hmm that IS weird, can you take care of that?"

Not sure how many legs you are doing, but for some bizarre reason you can only get boarding passes for up to 3 legs in one go on one trip. Had this happen to me last year and just got the last (4th) leg at the gate.

For the record, I'm doing LGA-MEM-ATL-SJC-ATL-MEM-LGA straight 12 hours of traveling. I started at LGA this morning (Sat.) at 12:45pm, I'll arrive back at LGA tomorrow at 12pm.

When I checked in for the entire trip, It was only allowing me to check in for "Trip 1", which were the flights from LGA to SJC. I could not and still can not check in from SJC back to LGA.

Also, for the record, I got upgraded on all my legs at the window except for the MEM to LGA return leg. I can't see the list because I'm not officially checked in.

Oh well.

Yeah the red-eye upgrade was clutch. Otherwise I would have been in for a looong day; I've done a few TransPac's in Kettle, so I'm glad for the little things.

Once you're airborne on the ATL-SJC leg, login to delta.com and you should be able to check-in for the rest of your flights. Of course, you won't get a HOOU coupon since you can't print the BPs. But at least you should be able to check on your upgrade for MEM-LGA. And you should be able to use your GM card or one of your prior boarding passes at the gate BP scanners.

I highly recommend checking in once you're airborne. The last ATL-SFO-ATL trip I made, I didn't get my return boarding pass on check-in at ATL. When I landed in SFO, I went to the podium, and our arrival was delayed by a bit, leaving a <30 minute turnaround time. The agent had already given up my confirmed upgrade as I hadn't checked-in yet. Thankfully, she called that passenger up and took her upgrade away, putting me back in first.

So I managed to check in by manually entering my confirmation number and departing airport as SJC. So I'm all set!

Any idea why expert flyer shows the first flight from MEM to LGA (flight 1260) as having F2 yet seat map is completely full?

From an old thread.

I'll check in at a kiosk, run to the SC and check in and print the rest of my BP's. It will not work if you are logged in for some reason.

I do mostly same day turns (get off and then right back on). Always a good laugh from the crew when I get back on and they figure out what I am doing.

Yes, just go to the gate. If you aren't checked in (not sure if you can check in for all segments) do it online enroute. If you still can't, just do it at the gate or service counter.

Gate is best to avoid losing your seat.

Just completing my red eye return. Had a fun time explaining to the FAs what I was doing since it was the same crew that did the previous leg.
