I really think DL should allow voluntary reroutes to people requesting them, with F upgrades (if not small VDBs) as compensation. If you just throw an upgrade at someone for an otherwise unclaimed seat, the cost to the airline is 0, the customer is happy and the oversold flight gate agents are less harried and the airline saves money. Remind me what DL has to lose in this situation?
Your suggestion of mostly using FC upgrades as compensation is wrong because it transfers the cost of VDB compensation from DL (who made the mistake in overbooking the flight) to other elite passengers who have earned those upgrades under published DL FF program rules.Originally Posted by vitira
