Yikes. I was in ATL last night (9:30PM) and they were running... wonder what/when it happened...

Perhaps DL management has introduced an "inter-terminal transfer fee" but forgot to staff someone to collect the fee.

I didn't mind the fee so much... it's just that they made it non-refundable if you don't show up for the train at your appointed time.

I wonder if they have a flat tire rule if your roll-aboard breaks down?

Hope they get them fixed by about 8pm, though I suppose I could manage my A to B transfer without them if I really have to...

Glad I chose DTW today. Not that I couldn't use the walk though...

According to this:

http://www.atlanta-airport.com/HJN/2007/01/dev2.htm

each terminal is separated by about 900 to 1000 feet.

Elsewhere, I have read that each terminal is about 1/2 mile long.

So, having to use the moving walkways between two adjacent terminals would not seem to be too great a hardship for the otherwise ambulatory.

However, the PAX that is going from E to T and who let DL.dumb sell him a 35 minute connection (vs DL's internal 55 minute MCT) will likely be sweating it.

It is a power outage, according to this Tammy Joyner item in the ATL fishwrap:

I had to make the hike from Term D to Term A this AM (with only 40 minute layover), but I made it! FWIW, the Mrs. was on a later flight than me, and when she got to ATL around 2 EST the trains were working again. She was happy because she was going from Term A to Term E.

Power outage? Welcome to Atlanta (jk, but I have experienced quite my share of outages when I lived there). Surprising that it's sunny there, no thunderstorms that often cause it.

That said, I enjoy the walk between the terminals, although I can see it getting annoying trying to go to D or E. My flights are usually out of A, so I don't mind the walk past the Zimbabwean art, so long as the moving walkways are on.

Nor do I mind a walk to B to catch a Sweetwater Blue or Café Intermezzo drink if I'm fancying one.

That pax has already missed his connection because of the obligatory 20-minute Deltafied version of musical chairs the planes play with the gates upon arrival at ATL. Plus the wait for a jetbridge operator is at least another 5 even for the luckiest of flights. His connecting flight was closed by the time he stepped off the plane.

Even the guy with the 90 minute connection is going to be sweating it if he has to walk from T-E. (Still sweating even if he runs, I guess... )

Only invoked when the escalators and elevators are shut down at the same time.

I heard you have to reserve a car further away from the escalators if you want it at the low-level and can't make any changes within 72 hours, even if there is an empty car that is much more escalator-accessible and will help the train's load factors.
