Upgrades
My father (FO) and mother are in LA. Due to an issue with DL458 they were going to miss their connection and they lost their upgrade on 458 and are rebooked as "Y" on a later flight via Las Vegas. Long story short, on their itinerary it says Contact Delta for upgrade request on both flights and if I was to book them new tickets both flights are listed as "Upgrade Available." Rep in LA says they need to ask at the gate, is there anyway for me to do it online as I do not want Shena taking them off the upgrade list in LAX or LAS as rather than sleeping in their own bed tonight they are on a redeye

If it says "Upgrade Available" it means V>0, so they should be able to confirm upgrades on the new flights immediately. (Unless there's only V1, in which case the non-status companion may have something to do with it.) Do you have their PNR? I would call in. And definitely try to do so before you hit the SDC window of T-3 hours.

If the upgrade is indeed available then try OLCi again. Alternatively you could call DL and ask them to process it on the spot; though most agents won't do this for you.

I woul call DL immediately. I seem to have more luck getting things done with the DM Line than I do asking for the same things at the airport.

Thanks for the advice - fortunately the gate agents they dealt with were helpful and Shena did not show up. Unfortunately the delay caused them to land 6 hours after they were supposed to and rather than their bags being on their new flight Delta instead sent the bags on to the final destination from SLC rather than putting them on their new flights so they had to wait an additional 30 minutes or so for the SLC flight to arrive so they could get their checked bags
