mechanical problems

Is it just me or has Delta been having a ton of mechanical problems on it's planes. Seems like almost every flight has some sort of delay due to mechanical issues. I'm sitting on the tarmac right now with emergency vehicles checking the plane over because the pilot lost steering control.

As this isn't a trip report and relates to a specific airline we'll move this over to the Delta forum.

BOS-MSP 8am Monday, 2 weeks ago 4 hour delay. New wiring harness.

BOS-MSP 8am today, 4 hour delay (at least - still sitting here). Had to fly in another part. Anxiously waiting for the pilots to blame it on another wiring harness.

i have hit mechanical delay on 3 consecutive trips this month, ranging from slightly under 1 hr to 2 hour delay. and no compensation was given to the passengers. i sent a complaint email on the website and was given 3700 miles.

If that's true, you must never fly ASA...

No he probably always flies ASA. All delays are weather delays on ASA

I have been running about 20% delays for mechanical reasons this year. This includes long haul Int flights as well. Been a tough year for that so far.

Flying PIT/JFK/SAT last Thursday . . .

PIT/JFK originated at JFK, went back to the gate due to mechanical - quite delayed. When it finally left PIT, it was only about 40 minutes late due to scheduled time padding.

JFK/SAT delayed 2 hours leaving for "Air Conditioning not working in the cockpit". Not saying that it's not a legit issue, I've just never heard THAT one before!
