Let me guess, you haven't been on the L train in years.

Seems like it should be possible using bluetooth, or possibly even the in-flight wifi.
Certainly WiFi, however Bluetooth devices are not allowed to be used in-flight. This could also speed up the meal service as everyone can be asked which choice they prefer and then just deliver it instead of asking and stopping on each isle. Using the IFE systems could be a possibility as well.

If flight attendants spend less time being waiters/waitresses, more time could be spent on more important tasks or being in their seats to avoid injury due to turbulence, in clear air or not.

Somehow I don't think there's room in the DL budget for 2 X $499 devices PER AIRCRAFT...

Of course, jetBlue has been doing this with pen and paper for years. No carts in the aisles in Y!

Virgin America's ordering system is probably the standard here. (ie: self service, why should the FA even have to ask me what I want?) In theory, this could be done with only software updates and minimal additional equipment on AVOD equipped planes, though I'd probably get annoyed at the people around me not knowing how to use it and pushing my head forward in the process.

Wonder if he turns it off below 10K or if he is just like the rest of us and ignores the request to turn everything with an on/off switch off.

^ to that; if it's either an iPad or a broken ankle, I know which one I'd rather have.
