There's always the brute-force method to find V inventory:
1) Go to dl.com
2) Make sure you're logged in
3) Advanced Search for full Y fares
4) # of passengers = 1
5) Review results. "Upgrade Available"? V>=1. "Upgrade Eligible"? V=0
6) Repeat search with n+1 passengers until "Available" changes to "Eligible", n-1 = V

I doubt it is FCM, more likely holding back seats on holiday weekend. Same as how they jack gas prices. If it was my business I would do the same. It caused me to sit in back on my thurs flight but I am not going to get bent about it.

I agree with the idea on the possibility of holding back seats on a holiday weekend, my outbound (PHL - ATL) on 7-5 just cleared this morning, but my return on 7-7 cleared seven days out, have never seen that before.
