Offered $246 on a MSP-SFO into a mostly empty cabin which is notably a lot less than the current route fare differential of $350. Could be a decent opportunity to undercut.

Agreed; I just (re)purchased the return leg of an award ticket for much less miles than the offer in the app. Wife and I are headed TALT in about a month and as DM we had C+ seats for the AMS-ATL flight at a good award level (69k) but since they changed aircraft on us from a 2-4-2 to a 3-3-3 configuration in C+ we decided to move up to PS (sorry I know this is FC thread but I didn't find one for PS) The offer on the app was 49,900 more miles to upgrade just that leg while it was only 11k more to (re)purchase. This is the second time in the last 6 months I've found better deals by simply (re)purchasing a flight.

DL currently has seasonal PS awards to Europe from 68K miles roundtrip which is only 14K more than lowest main cabin awards (54K roundtrip). However, travel must be completed by May 26th and there is a 14-day advance purchase requirement. So opportunity to redeem these is rapidly running out.

Buy up TPA to IAH
My flight from TPA to IAH via ATL is few days away. Currently first class upgrade for each leg is $149. First class cabin is half empty on seatmap on both legs (FWIW)
Will I see better price closer to departure? I know no one knows for sure, but someone may have experience. Upgrade to C+ is about $32 each leg now. |
I'm sure this has been answered earlier, but I can't seem to find it. Apologies in advance.
I know FCM offers are nonrefundable. But if you voluntarily cancel the flight, do you get an ecredit for the FCM amount or do you lose the entire value? I have a current offer that I can't turn down ($114 on a 4+ hour leg) but I'm not for certain that I'll actually make the trip. |

You'll lose the entire value of the upgrade, though some have reported success getting a phone agent to override and refund. YMMV, but don't count on it.

Quick question - Unfortunately I don't fly enough any longer for Status but I am on an M Fare ticket nonstop ATL-HNL, 9 days away from departure. I would love to upgrade to at least C+ or even better FC, but any available seats are X out (Unavailable) for purchase. What are the chances that I may get an upgrade offer at Check-In if seats are really available and are just being restricted right now? I'd really love to not sit in a coach seat for a 10hr flight. :)

If you are talking about the flight on the 15th, it's currently J0 W0. So I'd say your chances are not good since they aren't even selling any seats in D1 or C+ and those cabins look to be sold-out.
Not a big deal as I am traveling with the wife and will be in 2 seats with her, but as a solid 6'3 250lb dude....I'll gladly pay more for space if I can. Thanks for the info! I greatly appreciate it! |
Paid upgrades
My parents booked a flight to HNL with 25K Korean Air miles. I really want to pay for their upgrade to Delta One. It's a lot--$9xx one way per person. Any reason to just do it now vs at checkin which is in a few hours?

Are you sure the flight has D1 service? Only a few DL routes to HNL do, namely the ATL and MSP nonstops.
The price could go up, down, or disappear. |

You might want to consider just upgrading the return flight from HNL as that is a redeye. Problem is that it leaves HNL at about 5PM, so not exactly when you want to try to sleep.
|
FWIW, there are only 6 business class seats remaining for tomorrow's MSP-HNL. If they want to sit next to each other, I wouldn't wait. Price is *probably* unlikely to change (5 of 6 seats available in cheapest Z inventory).
