someone got an upgrade to D1 on CDG for $25 or something ridiculous, so it’s possible it drops but these flights are leaving full and BOS to FCO is no more so I don’t think it will go down. Try to book 9 F seats on your flight and work your way down to see how many are left. The more seats the higher the odds but still low chance of price dropping

Are FCM upgrade fees still lost if you change your flight in the new no change fees world?

These two statements are straight from the Delta site on MQMs for award travel:
"The base MQMs for Award Travel tickets in First Class, Delta Premium Select and Delta One will be 50% of the distance flown plus the distance flown (i.e., 150% of the distance flown)." "Post-Purchase Upgrade with Miles: MQMs will be based on the distance flown and the fare class that is purchased and flown, regardless if the upgrade is paid with cash or miles. " Pretty clear here we should be getting it. I sent a complaint in with the information, as I had the same response from phone agents as you. I will hit platinum with no extra flying if I can get it corrected, so big incentive for me. |

Did you ever find resolution on this? I'm unfortunately about to embark on the same journey.

Yes. Trip extras, including seat upgrades / FCM, are forfeited in the event of a voluntary change. With that said, I've had some luck getting an exception to this policy by asking nicely. You're entitled to a refund for involuntary changes.

Well, then I am glad it timed out when I was trying to buy the $830 FCM upgrade and instead just reticketed that leg for $886.

Totally. I personally think the policy is pretty unfair and isn't disclosed clearly enough. I'm fine with the seat upgrades being nonrefundable, but the value of the upgrade should be added to the value of the ticket if cancelled / changed. Especially since these first class upgrade offers can be in the hundreds of dollars, and even reaching towards a thousand dollars in some cases!

Delta had one F seat left on a CLE-DTW segment last Thursday (97 miles point to point, 23 minutes in the air); they offered it to me for $482.67 or 44,900 SkyMiles. I looked up the full fare F price on this route and it was $349.00. When I didn't take this deal, the Big D retaliated by putting a 300+ lb. man next to me in C+. You can't make this stuff up.

I'm seeing FCM prices that are now frequently more than if you just straight up change the ticket and buy the first class fare.

Not a frequent DL flyer here but back in September I purchased a very reasonable app upgrade for MCO LGA. Fast forward 2 months and the charge hits my credit card, yes, 8 weeks after travel.
I'd forgotten about it so called DL to question the charge. The agent said it's a known issue when using Mastercard (and Discover) to pay for extras such as upgrades and said she'd taken multiple calls asking the same. Seems strange no? At a minimum you'd expect Delta to email affected customers or put something up on the website/app? |

Agreed; I just (re)purchased the return leg of an award ticket for much less miles than the offer in the app. Wife and I are headed TALT in about a month and as DM we had C+ seats for the AMS-ATL flight at a good award level (69k) but since they changed aircraft on us from a 2-4-2 to a 3-3-3 configuration in C+ we decided to more up to PS (sorry I know this is FC thread but didn't find one for PS) The offer on the app was 49,900 more miles to upgrade just that leg while it was only 11k more to (re)purchase. This is the second time in the last 6 months I've found better deals by simply (re)purchasing a flight.
