Ah, I thought you meant it was $199 for the return segment.

an itinerary i have been monitoring for FCM is down to $542 round trip for what amounts to a transcon plus a 1 hour regional flight, so about 12 hours of total flying time. i paid $285 for my ticket in coach before the C+ change, so i am currently in the bulkhead. if they dropped it to below $500, i'd probably be willing to pay...

Is it a JFK-LAX/SFO transcon? If so, that price might be worth your while, depending on your situation. Still a significant discount from the normal $1.1K minimum that DL normally charges for D1 at booking.

no, at that price by now i'd have grabbed it. it's SMF-LAX-RDU rt.

I booked a cheapie DCA-OMA-ATL-DCA late May for $327.00 in T class (DL now flies a CRJ-700 non-stop DCA-OMA and return, leaving DCA around 0830; this is apparently in competition with a WN non-stop DCA-OMA). I forgot to check the box for an upgrade to C+; I had to go back into my reservation to do this, which was granted immediately. I needed to log back into my reservation about an hour later, and was greeted by a Delta offer to upgrade all segments of this trip for $98. I grabbed it, and now have a round trip booked in G class.

When I booked this trip, I think the lowest roundrip in F on offer was $900; I ended up getting confirmed up front for $425.00.

If you upgrade, SDC becomes a lot easier in case you want to do something like SMF-LAX-JFK-RDU for the MQMs and comfort.

Unless it's a red-eye, is connecting in JFK vs flying from LAX direct in F really that much more comfortable? I've seen SDCing to LAX-JFK mentioned countless times in this thread and I just don't get it. Maybe I value my time too much.

You value your time in a sane and rational manner.

Redeye - if you need to be productive in the AM, yes. (e.g., I recently did DEN-LAX-JFK  )
Otherwise, no way!

Was offered SLC-ORD for $259 at OLCI on delta.com last Friday (4/8). Seems like that was probably the difference in fare between the fare I paid and the cheapest F ticket.

Paid F upgrades are only offered at OLCI on the full website (not mobile version of delta.com or the Delta app), correct?

I checked in on the App Friday for a DTW/LAS flight and it offered me the chance to buy up to F for $299. I declined it and was #1 for four available seats. I was surprisingly able to SDC on an earlier flight and did clear on the new flight so not sure if I would have cleared on my flight or not. It was an 8 p.m. flight and only windows were available and I had the bulkhead Aisle in FC so it sure wasn't worth paying $299 to sit up front.

Agree 100%. The most absurd one I saw was (and yes I know who you are :)) someone was going PHX-JFK that has a direct flight that takes 3 hrs, they intentionally booked PHX-MSP-JFK in F so they could SDC to PHX-LAX-JFK adding 6+ hrs to the trip.

Due to the restrictions of time I am committed to my outbound itinerary...I would consider SDC on the return to get on a later flight via ATL, which would be more convenient, but was more expensive when booking.

Has anyone had any success with calling in to upfare only one way of a round trip, without any change fees?

So he got a free mileage run? I've done stuff more extreme than that.

Booked DAL-ATL-RDU for next month for $112. Today, a FCM offer popped up for $111.50. I gladly took it and now I'm in G Class ^
