I flew this route a few weeks ago and every first class seat was sold. For my flight on this route this Sunday seat map has been showing full since at least Monday. Why anyone would pay for FCM flight is beyond me. Half the time they don't do a PDB service on this flight and you can get two drinks max in the air.

Perhaps lots of people connecting onwards ... are flying Premium class the entire journey? ... You've got to think about this big picture and all the different ways those seats could be filled.
I ride up front WAS<-->JFK and WAS<-->DTW a lot en route to/from SEA, but no way would I bother with G/A/P fares on those routes unless there was a really compelling reason ... or a sighting such as

I'd pay $5 to upgrade ORD to DTW for the MQMs alone. |

Ever since they put in the Shuttle planes with first class, I have been upgraded every time between DCA and LGA.
Yesterday, the FC cabin on the 4PM to LGA was sold out (as were all between 2 and 6) and I was number 7:eek: on the UG list. Number 7???? I've never been number 7 for any upgrade, especially with a K fare. |

What I'd like to know is who would pay for an upgrade on a 40 minute flight (or buy F outright).

I refused to pay DCA-JFK and got the upgrade even with a non-status companion.

It's also a pretty cheap route cash-wise.

Ok I finally broke down and participated in fcm. I am meeting up with my family in MSN this fall to fly out to Costa Rica.
I had a travel voucher, so I used that to pay for my round trip. My mother ended up deciding to take a different flight after I had already booked my flights. So she will arrive a couple hours after I arrive. So now we are not on the same flights. I figured I would get upgraded the whole way, but now that we are not on the same flights, I could just keep my flights or do SDC. The problem is that whenever I do SDC, I usually end up in coach after clearing the standby list. When I first booked the tickets the fcm price was 355.00 round trip. Which I thought was not that bad. I waited a few days and it got down to 207.00 today. So I booked it. My thinking is that I can use the extra mcm and I can now SDC into First class and fly with mom. |

Will you give her your seat up front? :D But....... How do you plan to SDC on an int'l ticket?!! |

I wonder if Delta is finally realizing that selling 80% of F class seats (at actual first class prices) is unrealistic, but in order to save face, is now selling them for barely more than coach. I'm sure Anderson is hoping that the shareholders are too stupid to notice (which could very well be the case).
Then again, the only FCM offers I've ever gotten have been garbage, so what do I know... I'm also a shareholder, and I certainly notice (and I voted against Anderson on my shareholders' meeting proxy ballot). |

OK, now I'm confused. I thought I read earlier that if you took a FQM monetization offer you didn't actually get extra MQM, rather it was like paying a fee, which gets you no credit. Did I misunderstand? What exactly does happen if, for example, you pay en extra $300 for a transcon. How many more MQM do you get? Did I miss that and what you don't get is more RDM or more MQD or some other thing DL has inflicted on us? Sorry to break it down but I'd really like to know since it would affect my willingness to take these cursed things, and I can't just jump back through 165 pages. If for example I flew SAN-JFK as a Plat for a $300 1-way fare I'd expect about 2450 or so MQM and 2700 (9X) RDM and 300 MQD. What would I get if I took the $300 FCM offer? Many thanks for helping the confused... FTF |
