Definitely did. Went to the DL website and followed the comments/complaint link and received an automated reply. Really wanted to see if there's an "insiders" email address or snail-mail address that I can send it to though. I know DL has flaws - every airline does - but it's service like this that will guarantee my loyalty.

Good point. What happened to RealDLInsider? About a year or two ago, DL reps played a more active role in the forum with concrete updates.

I do not have an obsession, I am sure there are some NWers who want nothing more than a cocktail and some quiet... but this soup craze that has ruined the Crown Room must be blamed on someone.... and I blame the SEG....

My guess is that it is easier to get fired by saying something these days... it is why company's are full of ... kissing yes men who serve their careers and not their company....

Disclaimer: I don't fly WN, nor do I look at the WN forum. Nonetheless, I have some thoughts (which alone probably proves OPs point).

First, you are dealing with a different clientele. This is not meant to evoke the "cattle call" perspective towards WN customers. My point is that a vast amount of the traffic in this forum is posted by business travelers. Most businesspeople travel with one goal in mind, get done and get home. As such there is an inherent impatience. Thus a question asked on the WN forum might get a friendly yet obvious response. In here that will often be replaced with "do a search." With WN, although I'm sure there are a lot of business travelers, you still have a higher percentage of leisure travel, and therefore, veteran posters are likely accustomed to basic questions being asked repeatedly. If you don't buy this explanation simply go over to CruiseCritic's forums. The folks over there could make a bible discussion forum seem unfriendly, but hey, who isn't in a good mood when they are going on a cruise.

Second, Delta's programs are a lot more complex. You have domestic and international travel, many more fare codes, hub & spoke travel, a much more complex FF program, and multiple elite tiers. These last two items alone account for a vast majority of the contentious threads in the Delta forum. Although this forum is essentially the Delta forum, it's called the SkyMiles Forum, and for better or worse, SM is a monster of a program.

Third, and as has been mentioned ad nauseum, while the planes may all sport a shiny slanted widget, the merger is still lingering. You have disagreements between long time customers from both airlines, as well as differences in employees, destinations and aircraft from both airlines. Although I doubt it will be so bad, I'm sure the WN forum will heat up some after the merger with FL.

So while I wouldn't dispute that this forum is a little "rough and tumble" and doesn't suffer fools, I can't begin to tell you how valuable this board is for someone who is going to make frequent use of Delta's services.

And one more thing, we have Thomas Hudson, AvidFlyer, Vuelos. I bet the WN forum doesn't have its own comedy department! :cool:

How ling did it take for DL to tell NW top tier people that they could only change an award twice for free all year; while at the same time take away all standard awards???


Sure they resided that one but it was only the start of why there are so many people here that have left or did stick it out and voice their negatively to DL.

I seem to remember that every day another I can not believe they are doing this to us rule, change was happening.

I did switch to CO and now they merged. Over there you see a thread here or there complaining, heck things like boarding order, minor stuff.

They are going to put in E+ in CO, a concern that they took best of both. CR1 are for all members from both camps.

They did take any fare SWU from CO but at least they only limit a few classes on go forward ones and you can co-pay on any fare... not risking $$$ and hoping for an upgrade.

Both promised both of best worlds but DL did ot give best they were doing everything in their power to promote "Largest airline, stick it to you" attitude.

CO/UA seem to really try and give best of both worlds where it will not break the bank.

I have been EXP when it started in 1998, NW top tier and now CO top tier and read all three boards, like SPG and IHG all the time and only DL has issues people on boards constantly being negative, and their merger is how many years old?

All get their negative comments when a promo is not liked by all or some web changes are not liked by all but on DL it is always the same... No awards, No SWU that makes sense... No one complains about their CS, it is really good, no one complains about their FC upgrades, they are good, no one complains about the planes, they are ok. But heck everyone complains about awards and long haul methods of upgrading.

Too bad DL does not listen.

I think he's kind of like the old Dultah and some PMDL customers: stuck in the South, stuck in the past (Crown Room?) and confused by technology (There is an iPhone 4, not iPad 4)

see my post above. Sometimes there are posts that are just waiting to be mocked. I think there is a lot more sarcasm in the DL forums than you think. The Diamond DYKWIA folklore has gotten so inflated that many of us now just run with it. ;)

How is the FC monetization at CO going these days? Sorry to say that you are a little behind. People do complain about the diminishing FC upgrades due to DL trying to play from CO's playbook and monetizing upgrades. Thankfully, they haven't quite mastered it like CO did(one of the major reasons I don't fly them now).

I am almost at 100% upgrades and now 1K on my UA flights due to their internal status match. I will let you know how their FC goes next week. Funny in my limited reading over here there are quite a few threads on DL starting to accept small amounts of money from anyone for cheap upgrades.

BTW I am going to HNL on labor day weekend and was able to find two tickets on the same flights for standard awards. I looked on DL and they wanted 65K for each person. I saved 50K between the two tickets. I guess I cold have tried hit the back button, taken a shower, came back hit the back button again and than hit refresh to get it down to 60K per person.

Therein lies the problem. It's a business decision by Delta that will go against the flow, so why post these decisions on a elite-heavy board? May as well have people speculate. However, when Gold/Plat Delta Amex holders get free checked baggage, Delta didn't hesitate to post that information here right away.

If the "family" is being abandoned. I wonder if the "family" was the cause of the abandonment. I typically see 1 complaint and quite a few others go out of the way to indicate that it's the OP that's wrong. It may be a petty complaint, but if the weight of it is shred off even more, why would a business pay attention to that complaint?

Thanksgiving Dinner could be fun to see your relatives. But at the end, if it's just petty bickering all night long, why even bother with it?

To the OP, DL is facing challenges as it tries to merge two groups with different backgrounds, systems, habits, expectations, mannerisms, and rules.

The combination of this board from the old PMDL and PMNW boards is going through exactly the same thing. No more, no less. There are unpleasant folks in both groups that like to wax eloquent about every conceivable subject, but they are in the minority. Most folks are pleasant and helpful. But a thick skin could come in handy for the next few months.....
