segment question
I booked ATL-CLT-ATL to obtain two segments, however, the flight number for both ATL-CLT and CLT-ATL are the same (45 min layover). Is this still considered two segments even though on my itinerary it shows as one flight with a 45 minute layover? I need the segments for a promotion and usually don't do segment qualifying. Thanks.

Makes it fun when you call in for flight status.... this flight makes more than one stop etc.

I think in xxx to yyy and yyy to xxx scenarios they're considered two different segments if the yyy is the destination airport. I discovered the same flight number on a DTW-MKE r/t MR and was worried that I'd only get credit for one segment, but was credited with two segments and 1k MQM's.

I missed that when I read the question. Yes, some DL connection flights are using the same # on both outbound and return. And it does get confusing!

My intent is to take a short, cheap flight and get two segments so that I have 6 segments before June 30 and qualify for the silver 100 percent promo. I will have 4 with ATL-SAN flights and I just need a quick two. Thanks!

Recently? Has anyone else had the same experience? Should I call Delta and ask? If I booked a later return would it make a difference?

We've only had reports of success on this posting as two segments, I think, so you should be fine. Keep the boarding passes in case something weird happens, but I wouldn't worry about it. He Who Walks on Water should be able to fix the promo part if something really weird happens.
