DC 10 service

Does anyone fly, into the US, a DC-10 still? Does KLM still fly in Europe with it?

KLM flies the MD-11 and there is no DC-10 in airline commericial service, but I believe a couple charter airlines still fly DC-10

DC 10

Omni air flies them.
FedEx has MD-10's (Which are DC-10 converted to a MD-11 flight deck)

I see the Omni Air DC-10s at BWI all the time; they use them for the military charters which are staged there.

I saw this thread and I got all excited. I thought they maybe were going to buy some used ones and put them back on the SEA-MSP flights... Those were the days.. <wipes tear>

You could check with these people http://www.omegaairrefueling.com/vms/ and get a chance on a 707 also. I saw the 707 at UAM last year, former PA bird very well maintained.

I believe DL flew the DC-10 for a short period because of the L-1011 delay.

On one of my last DC-10 flights, the landing gear was stuck, and it took a long time to get the gear down.

Best DC-10 flight was on CO in first class from HNL-CNS in 1990. Sipping champagne while crossing the equator, and a spectacular view of the Great Barrier Reef on landing.

.
Didn't they have them twice ... the first time with the ones they bought because of the L-1011 delay , and the second time when they bought WA ( although I think that also only lasted a short time )

I saw one while at BWI last week. I instantly recognized it as a former NW bird as it was still wearing the NW silver mica paint job.

Thank you! Just emailed them now. Any tips on getting to fly one of these bad boys? Will they bring "civilians" during missions?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

Ah those old school chimes ... though don't miss ceiling panels falling on landing or the day a guys seat in the last row of newly dense fc configuration got mangled by the power door because it was over reclined.

Excellent! I've always wanted to go to Bangladesh! No, but seriously thank you. I'll probably do this.

Yup, I always see at least a couple of them parked together in BOS. You can get a good view from terminal A
